I made this a few days ago because we had a head of cabbage and some celery in our fridge. It's pretty much a vegetable soup. DH refused to try some because of the lack of meat, but I made him try some yesterday and he said it was good!

DH and E had some bug for about 4 days....it was unpleasant. Hope he gets better soon! I took Dh out for a really nice bday dinner the night he felt better but half of it still sits in the fridge. i wouldn't waste your time or money until he's really feeling up to it :)

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: DH was gone till Thursday night, and luckily didn't get it. Even more that R didn't get it. It started Monday night for me and it was Monday before I had a whole day and feeling fine.
I thought that I felt better, and then I had a drink at dinner Sat night and it came back. Fun times!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I think so. He took off Mon and Tues. Today he packed apple sauce and saltines which was the only thing he could keep down yesterday. He definitely told me not to get a cake.

@yoursilverlining: ginger in chicken & dumplings sounds like a winner.

@Smurfette: I'm hoping he feels 100% by Friday or Saturday. I want to take him to Dave & Buster's for a burger and air hockey. Was your entire house sick? We have been sleeping in different rooms for the past three nights.

I had it last week, didn't throw up or lose 12 lbs but I ate bagels, crackers and chicken noodle soup. Anything else made it worse. Just make it up to him next week.

Is he still actively sick, or recovering from being sick?

We all had the stomach flu last week. It really was awful!

I lived off chicken soup for three days, just broth and noodles. I finally get myself on day 4 and could not shovel food into my mouth quick enough. Cheese made me have a little bloating that was enough to be uncomfortable, but OMG FOOD after not being able to eat for days...

What about chicken and dumplings? My husband always requests I make those when he doesn't feel well!

Mashed potatoes?

A simple, blander soup?

Risotto with just a little cheese?

It's not really exciting; but chicken broth with tons of ginger simmered in it is what I always have when I'm sick. The ginger will calm his stomach and the chicken broth is so good for you!

Need some feel - better recipe ideas that can be purchased and made within a hour.

My husband has lost 12 pounds over the last 3-4 days with a stomach bug. He can barely keep down applesauce and saltines. He's been drinking Pedialite, Gatorade and Ginger Ale.

Today is his birthday and I want to make him something a little more fun and memorable than his sick day meals.

Thanks for the help!
