@buttermilk: my son had strep in the summer.

Out of no where he started saying he was “barfy”. Then wanted to lie down. Then felt warm. Then was sleeping on the couch. That alone was enough for us to take him to the doctor because he has *never* done that. He had strep. Didn’t once say his throat hurt. Super weird!

@catchafallingstar: So my 3 year old daughter did this exact same thing last week. Fell asleep at 5pm. I noticed she had a fever overnight when I woke her up by accident. Gave her Tylenol. In the morning she was complaining about her stomach hurting really bad. It had me panicking a bit bc she never does this and I thought it seemed odd. I made an appointment that morning with the ped and it turned out she had step throat! Never complained about sore throat or showed any other symptoms but the doc said sometimes strep starts as stomach pain and ther aren’t always other symptoms. Weird!

It’s super common for little kids to describe nausea as “pain” because they don’t really have an understanding/word for it. my son did this two nights ago- crying and saying his stomach hurt and then a few minutes lter he threw up. Also my older daughter always says her stomach hurts right before she has to poop.

I would at least call your ped and get their take on whether to take her in--pain to the touch would make me want the doctor's input (though I know it's hard to always rely on toddler self-reporting!).

My 3 year old baby girl came home early from her grandparents’ today complaining of stomach pain. When I was touching her tummy to see where it hurt she said it hurt really bad when I touched it. She’s now asleep, which never EVER happens during the day even when she’s sick. I would call the doctor but her baby sister is asleep on me and I can’t. I’m a little freaked out and Googled (which made me feel so much more scared and worried). What do you think this is? Should I take her to be seen? Thank you.
