Our LO started this at about 5 months. I talked to the ped at her 6 month appointment and he is totally fine with it. He said we should keep putting her down on her back but wherever she goes from there is up to her and we can leave her be.

You have done well to make it to 7 months. At 5 months our LO started, and now she only sleeps on her stomach.

once he figured out how to roll, he was all about sleeping on his tummy. we always put him down on his back, but he never stays that way!

LO started rolling back to belly early and has been a tummy sleeper since about 4 months I think. I was worried at first, too (especially with her so young) but it was exhausting for us and disruptive for her to keep flipping her over so we just let go and she has slept like that every night since.
Once they do it for themselves, there's no stopping them really so trust that he is strong enough and hope that it means better sleep for him :)

LO just started doing this too! I never flip her, but I have been checking her more often just to be sure. I know she should be ok, but I still worry.

I think it's totally alright since he rolls himself over!! E has been stomach sleeping since about 4.5 months. That's just how he prefers it :) Obviously I was a total nervous wreck for a while but I got more and more comfortable with it.

Speaking of bottoms in the air... !

I do feel more comfortable knowing he can turn himself over. I much prefer to sleep on my stomach, so I can't blame him!

LO started doing this a while ago, maybe 5.5 months? He will even sleep face down, planted. I think if they're strong enough to put themselves like that, they can put themselves back and we just let it ride.

I would think at that age, and being so able and willing to flip over, that it would be just fine to leave him on his tummy.

My son started doing that too when he learned to roll over! I worried for about a week or so and then embraced it. We would lay him to sleep on his back until that became unacceptable (I.e. he would wake up screaming like we'd put him down in a snake pit). Now we lay him on is side and he usually ends up on his tummy with his butt in the air. He's 8 months.

I asked our pediatrician and she said that, if he's rolling himself over its okay to leave him on his tummy. She said if he can roll, move his head from side to side, and push himself up with his arms then he's okay.

I've always heard if they can roll there on their own, then it's okay. My LO has been sleeping like that for a week or two now. Some nights she even sleeps face down (not to the side)... it freaked me out at first but now I've calmed down about it. She seems to sleep a lot more soundly that way and STTN for the first time (at least for 4 nights).

Even though we put LO down to sleep on his back, he seems to want to roll right over to his tummy each night this week. It has just started and we keep going in during the night to flip him over! 10 minutes later, however, he's back on his stomach. He does have his head turned to the side, but I still worry when he's on his stomach without one of us right there with him.

He is going to be 7 months old tomorrow and I am not sure if I should be "righting him" all the time.

What is your take on tummy sleeping at this age?
