I totally feel your pain. When I was briefly working, I barely got 7-8 oz over 4 pumping sessions. It was so depressing. I took so much fenugreek I gave myself stomach aches.

Keep at it until you are home with her for the holidays and then re-evaluate when you go back to work in January. You're so close, even if you don't make it to the 1 year mark you've done a great job already!

@Elderberrygin: Nope, I've got no problem nursing just morning, night, and MOTN. I was always able to JUST BARELY make enough for her bottles with three pumping sessions at work plus an extra before bed, so supply was a struggle once I was back at work. But now I have no issue keeping up. I also want to say that ten month for me was the HARDEST time. I had been doing it for so long and it felt like two more months was sooooo much longer. Things really turned around at 11 months because I could see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks for the pep talk ladies! I know I'll get through today, and hopefully through the next two months. Some days pumping just sucks big time.

that's sooo frustrating. i also supplemented with formula for a month or so. giving our LO's primarily (or only) breastmilk definitely has its ups and downs, and today most definitely sounds like a down. i know your pain.

Girl, just like your post says, this is just for today.

You are so close to the one year mark. But guess what, nothing magically changes at a year. So don't stress if you don't "quite" make it there.

@Anagram: She's ten months old. I'm going to be with her full time over the holidays and I'm really hoping that my supply will pick up a bit.

@Mamamoose Did you have any problems maintaining supply for morning and night feeds after you stopped pumping? I've already had to supplement her daycare bottles with formula because she fell off her weight curve pretty dramatically when my supply tanked after returning to work. I'm seriously considering dropping some of my work pump sessions because they're so time consuming and stressful, but I want to keep up morning and evening sessions for the full year.

Oh man, I'm sorry!!! There were so many days I just wanted to give up on the pump. I, too, battled food intolerance issues and feeling like LO was always sick despite the fact that I was EBF'ing! But in the end when I reached a year without ever using formula and had her transitioned to whole milk during the day (she still nurses morning and night but I don't pump any more) it was soooooo worth it!

@Elderberrygin: how old is your LO? I feel for you...I've had days where I left one flange at home, or where work got too busy and I only got to pump once so my boobs were super uncomfortable. Pumping sucks.

I'm just trying to make it another 3 weeks till LO is 6 months.

Ugh. I somehow left one of my flanges at home today so I had to pump one side at a time. Felt the left side let down while I was pumping the right side, went to pump it and...NOTHING. So I ended up hand expressing. I'm already hand expressing 50% of my pump sessions because my boobs just won't co-operate with the pump and barely getting 8oz per day over four sessions.

I'm so over it. LO has eczema, allergies to everything under the sun and is on week three of the zombie daycare cold that just won't die despite my best BFing efforts. My goal was to breastfeed at least in part for a full year and today it just seems pointless.

Sorry for the extended whine. I just needed to vent so I don't cry at my desk.
