I take pictures of the really cute stuff and put it in the yearly photo album I make. Some stuff goes on the fridge, the rest gets tossed into a large plastic storage tote. Periodically I will go through and get rid of the random scribbles on a piece of paper. I feel like I'll want to keep the ones with E's hand or foot prints over time and less like I'll want to keep 300 crayon scribbles or painted dots. My husband is a "momento" hoarder so I have to do my clear outs when he isn't paying attention.

We keep it displayed for a little bit, and then 99.9% of it gets tossed. I don't like clutter and I don't see either of my boys caring that I kept an art project from when they were 5.

For my oldest (almost 8), I keep the student of the week projects and that is pretty much it. I will do the same for my little one. We keep those mostly because we use actual photos and they spend a lot of time decorating them. I keep them in a file folder in our filing cabinet.

I am with you! Most things gets tossed, we have a magnetic strip to keep some current stuff "displayed" for a while, then each girl has a huge plastic bin upstairs where I just throw stuff in there and I go through them at certain intervals (end of calendar year, end of school year, for example), to further clean up (aka toss even more haha).

Awesome, thank you all.

@SweetCaroline: I just ordered the “Discover my Art”, thank you!

@wrkbrk: that is totally a solution! It definitely beats the growing pile on top of his tiny little ikea desk (that the baby loves to yank down and then rip up...)

@catgirl: love love love the idea of using it as wrapping paper. I have so many huge fingerpaint masterpieces that would be fantastic for this!

Well so far I don’t keep a lot, which is the biggest help. For big sheets of paper that are colorful but nothing I need to save - I use it to wrap presents. The grandparents think it is great.

For normal paper size things I want to keep I have put this together : http://www.lindsayssweetworld.com/2018/02/how-to-organize-all-of-your-childs.html?m=1&epik=dj0yJnU9VzN1Qi1WbmkxbzUyTG1fY2pUY3ZTLTF3VDNyTE95eDkmbj1tY3R4eVZSeEJ3S3NnZ1NDWUdfTmFRJm09MyZ0PUFBQUFBRjI5enJn (sorry for crazy link)

For the handful of big things that I want to keep I have a large art portfolio carrying case that I keep under my bed. I write her name and the date made on the back of each piece.

I mean this is no solution but I keep everything for the time being in a milk crate in my closet 😂

We have this for the big stuff (though I am cery selective about what is kept): ALEX Discover My Art https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000HV0XLS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_A9yVDbZKT34DC

I put the best things into this document storage box (the bigger one) - there’s also something called an art storage box in the same line, not sure how it compares size wise. Not fancy or super organized, but easy! Only a couple things over several years are too big for it and those I lay flat on top.

School sends home every little art project my kids (3.5 years and 13 months) make. Some go straight to recycling (sorry, but one crayon scribble on a worksheet is not making it on the fridge), the cute seasonal ones get hung on the little bulletin board over his art desk or on the fridge, and the rest end up... all over this damn house. It is making me insane.

How do you keep the best stuff (like his first class picture which I’d like to keep for the rest of time) stored nicely? Plain folders won’t cut it and I don’t think a normal binder with plastic sleeves will be big enough to fit the bulky stuff.

Any solutions I’m not thinking of?
