LO had and has stranger anxiety. Before she would cry if anybody talked to her. They'd come over and say hi and she'd scream at them. Now she's fine with that, and will even smile, But nobody is allowed to hold her except DH, me, and my mom because she sees her a lot. She's also finally starting to let my in laws hold her, she sees them once a week.

If she cried with someone holding her, we take her back. Usually we'll have them play with her while we're holding her first for a while so she gets used to them. But she'll still usually cry.

LO went through stranger anxiety at 5 months but got over it and now at 8.5 months, it's starting to happen again. When she started to cry when others were holding her, I would go to her and make sure she could see me. If she still cried, I just took her back.

I would hold your LO while you're introducing new people to her. Once she seems comfortable, you should pass her to them. If she cries, just stay close and say "it's okay.."

My LO is 5 months and is starting to exhibit stranger anxiety. She is usually so happy and had no problems with others holding her before but now she cries when my brother holds her or when certain people get close to her...like our neighbors stopped by to see her and she started to cry when she saw them come into the living room. But other times she doesn't cry. Is there anything I can do to help her through this phase? My husband says I should take her out of the house more....I want to but her awake times are still so short...barely an hour.

Should I let her cry when others hold her so she gets used to it?
