@lamariniere: Good to know! I haven't seen any blood in two days so hopefully whatever it was has resolved.

I had this a few times with DS. We had major BF issues the first few months and I had very damaged nipples. The blood was definitely from me, although, I didn't see any when I checked myself and never had any blood when I pumped.

@JCCovi: that's good to know! Hopefully he's just getting a little blood when he's nursing. That's definitely the best option!

When both my LO's were getting blood from my nipples it did not show up in my pumped milk. The reason being was that they were scanning over and the babies were sucking the scabs off but the pump wasn't because it was just pulling, no chaffing. They were both much younger though, 1-2 weeks so my nipples were in rough shape.

J is 14 weeks old and has had two episodes in the last week where we noticed a small streak of red blood in his spit up. He seems otherwise fine. I don't see any bleeding areas on my nipples though my nipple is quite sore on one side (just went back to work and pumping a lot). I would think that if he were getting blood from me I would see it in my pumped milk, but maybe not?

As an aside - I am eliminating soy & dairy as his big sister was MSPI but I'm not really convinced that he is. His stools look normal for him (they have always been mucousy, which is what led me to eliminate in the first place).

Any thoughts?
