It took 4-5 days for my LO at 22 months to get it. Putting her in underwear helped. She didn't care too much about accidents the first couple of days but then she did. Rewarding her for peeing on the potty helped and talking about "Keeping Minnie Mose dry" (character underwear) was something she understood. We also sat her in the potty immediately when we saw her have an accident so she could learn where to potty. I don't think 2 years is too young esp when she wants the diapers off!

I agree with the designated naked time, and get some duct tape and wrap a strip starting in the back of the diaper, around the front, and ending two inches from where you started.

@psw27: this made me laugh out loud! I walked in to that one morning. apparently she was over having a wet diaper.

@gingerbebe: yup, once it happened in crib but i think she just was awake much earlier than I was (she was silent..figured out why! lol)

@gingerbebe: hm i should do that. we do dinner then bath, so maybe then she can be free lol

@bookwormmama: holy..she literally escaped out the neck hole of her one piece footless pajamas today. i kid you not. i just watched because i was curious if she could. she's been really sick (RSV) this week and barely eaten, and she was skinny beforehand. I'm taking this as a sign to fatten her up! if she'd eat, anyway.. lol

@sapphire: I knoww..agh. I didn't potty train dd1 until closer to 3, so i could actually explain it all to her. it seems so much harder when they're this young. she doesn't like a wet diaper but also doesn't really care if she pees all over the house lol.

@maddyz: i've totally resigned myself to buying a new area rug. thankfully, this one was $20 at a factory outlet, lol. she yells "what do?!" when she pees and then holds the rest (and it eventually comes out somewhere else too) so she's slowly getting it I think...I hope!

We rolled up the carpet and put potties where DS is playing. When DS would pee on the floor I would say something like "look at that, you are peeing right now, when you are done we will clean it up."

Now he uses the potty for pee when we are home and he doesn't have pants on. Diapers are for poop, sleeping and leaving the house. DS will be 2 in a few weeks.

We are starting to try potty training and my son is stripping himself at night a lot. So I'll randomly go check on him before I go to bed and he will be bare bummed with his diaper chucked over the crib..... Frustrating and bizarre since I think he might do it in his sleep. I just redress him and he stays asleep. I'm planning to work on potty training again this weekend and next.

Honestly I would take this as a sign to potty train. She's telling you she doesn't want the diapers. Take advantage of that! In the two months before pottytraining my LO she was wanting to be changed all the time and would take her diaper off.

If this is a daytime issue, maybe cut some feet off footed pjs and put them on backwards while at home? It would be similar to a straight jacket I guess! Maybe a few days or weeks like that she will lose interest in undressing.

A friend had an issue with her child getting out of their diaper at night and tried EVERYTHING. The thing that worked was cutting the crotch of a pair of tights and putting their arms in the tights with the crotch over the back. I guess they can't pull things very easily because their fingers aren't free and the tights are kinda slippery.

Can you give her sanctioned naked time? Like schedule it. After dinner (or before bath) for instance, say she can have naked time or panty time and watch a show but she has to stay in a designated space (covered with towels) and leave a small potty out. Then it would be an easy transition to bath time. Or let her have naked time after bath and run around then. If she starts stripping any other time say it's not naked time yet.

A strip of duct tape around her waist? At least it would keep her diaper on.

aside from putting her in a straight jacket or a wet suit, I'm out of ideas. maybe someone's got something we haven't tried yet.

my second daughter just turned two. she's OBSESSED with stripping. sometimes will keep her diaper on but doesn't usually. she is not potty trained and just pees wherever. we can get her to sit on the potty, but she doesn't actually know to go on it (she has 2-3 times but i think by accident honestly).

i've tried a onesie.
i've tried pull ups instead.
i've tried ignoring her.
i've tried addressing it and re-dressing her.
i've tried big girl underwear (=more laundry).
i've tried bribery (LOL yeah ok).

I've probably tried more than listed.

help?! ha. this too shall pass?
for the record, my oldest never did this. sigh.
