I am only a month in but so far I love my UBV. Hubs wanted to get the b-ready basically because of the price, but since our moms pitched in, I got my way ;) I really only commented to say that I fully intended on using the bassinet, and still may, but my LO doesn't love being flat on his back so we have been using the car seat adapter and he likes that just fine. I do hope we can use the bassinet later on.

@babybean404: just as a note, I would NOT get the ub vista bassinet stand...jolly jumper makes one that is like $40 and works perfectly. And the UBV bassinet does collapse but if you're driving in the car somewhere I would just get the carseat adaptors and use the car seat with the stroller while you're out.

Originally I wanted the UBV but when the b ready went in sale with the free car seat ($400 for both) that made my decision.

@lamariniere: OMG that looks amazing and I had no idea there were strollers that are MORE expensive than the UBV!

Y'all have really helped with my fears for the b ready and the UBV. I am going to try them out sometime during the day next week when the store will be more calm.

For those of you with the UBV or b-ready--does the bassinet collapse to fit in your trunk? For the b-ready, is there a bassinet stand you can get like the UBVs to use inside?

Any suggestions on what to do when trying out in the store? Fold up, attach car seat...?

My advice as a perpetually uncertain and overthinking stroller buyer is to buy for your needs now, and not worry about the future, because you don't know what kind of kid you're going to have or what your toddler is going to be like, or how old they will be exactly when/if you have another, or what will be on the market at that time. I finally got over my stroller paralysis when my LO was 8 months old (!!) and just bought UB g-luxe which I am obsessed with.

Britax B-Ready! We had always planned on having kids closer in age, but now that we are dealing with PPD, that thought is on hold. However!! I am still so completely in love with the B-Ready. Even if we decide to be One and Done, I will not regret choosing the B-Ready. It covers all your criteria, except for the jogging, and is about half the cost of the UBV. We LOVE our stroller. Even DH!

@babybean404: a regular double, we stopped using by 3.5. A double jogging stroller, we still use. When B was three, he still took a lot of naps in the stroller. There were times I took the double to constrain him for his safety, like in a city next to a busy road or shopping when he kept trying to run away from me. Otherwise, he would walk for the most part.

When he was 4, I only needed a dual jogging stroller since there was no way to run with him. I'm hoping he'll be able to bike ride fast enough to keep up with me when jogging with the other two!

@HLK208: you actually purchase the bassinet for the Cruz separately, but then it comes out to almost as expensive as the vista.

@babybean404: I have no idea how old a kid has to be to not need a stroller at all. I decided to go with the ubv because it fits my needs best right now. Hopefully it will work when we have a second, when c will be at least 3, either with the flimsier rumble seat for occasional use, or the ride along boogie board thing, but I figure if it doesn't I can sell it and recoup come of the cost. But c is only 8 months so what do I know??

@babybean404: the UB Cruz isn't as bulky as the Vista but there's no bassinet option.

I was set to buy the UBV but the second seat is flimsy, which held me back when I had my second (3 years apart). I liked that the Britax b-ready has all of the options you listed other than running but it's kind of heavy. Then again so is the BOB. Both are great strollers though.

Thank you everyone! @sandy and @septca my dilemma is I am not sure when/if we will have another child. I'm afraid I would kick myself for getting the b ready if we don't end up needing it to be a dual stroller...if I would enjoy the UBV more as a single.

If I got one or the other and did not like it, would a store like BBB allow me to return it within a few months?

I love my ubv but I never put it in the car since we walk most places. The uppababy Cruz is very similar but slightly narrower, less bulky, but you can't add the second seat down the line. It doesn't come with the bassinet but you can purchase it separately. I thought the bassinet was an absolute must have, but C hated it. :(. Once I accepted that and used the car seat adapter instead she was so much happier.

Eta: neither UB is a jogging stroller, but I think you will find the jogging strollers are all going to be bulky, and I've never seen one that can face both forward and back.

@babybean404: I'm not familiar with the other ones or don't remember them but I love my bumble ride indie. We're suburban too and it handles the off terrain and snow like a beast. Definitely buy one with bike tires and not those crappy hard plastic ones.

I vote for the UBV too! My kids are 3yrs apart and it's perfect for us, bc DD1 doesn't always want to sit in a stroller. She loves the kickboard too.

You may also want to consider the Bumbleride Indie. You can't face in, but it looks like a trimmer profile than the UBV, and the tires are air so you can use it for jogging.

@babybean404: not going to lie - this is a huge stroller but bc I live in the suburbs I have no problem with it. If I lived in the city and had to carry it up and down steps it would be a problem but it's not a problem to lift it in and out of the trunk for me (I'm 5 feet and petite). It's awesome for long walks around the neighborhood and for long outings to the zoo/park or a shopping day. I love how high it is bc sometimes there aren't spare high chairs and she can just sit and eat in her stroller and it's high enough that I can feed her easily sitting down and she's pretty much on our level. I also love how upright the seat is compared to other strollers I've seen.

But like @septca said, if you're planning for your kids to be closer together I would get something with a better second seat.

Also, if you are interested, a couple times a year (and usually in April, I think), Britax has a "Ready to Ride" sale where you buy the stroller and get a car seat, the bassinet, or the second seat package for free.

So... I was going to say get an UBV until I saw that you want it to be able to convert to a double. In that case, I 100% vote for the Britax B-Ready. It's smaller and less bulky with two seats than the City Select and sits higher, which I found was better on my back. The UBV is a great single stroller, but the rumble seat sucks - it is like it was an after thought. We are on month 15 of the B Ready and I LOVE it. Bonus - if you get a Britax car seat, it snaps in (to the top or second child space) automatically.

@babybean404: I really don't find it to be bulky. My second choice was the City Select which I still think is the better option if you have kids really close together but I chose the UBV because it was easier for me to fold and get in and out of the car.

I am due in early August and am literally having insomnia over our stroller choice! What should I get and what features should I look for/test out in the store?

We will be using a stroller:
1.. For lots of long walks through our neighborhood (paved) with our dog
2. Car trips to the mall, grocery store, restaurants, shopping, etc.
3. For walks through town (terrain is a little rougher)
4. Probably for jogging on paved trails and sidewalks (although we both tend to run at the gym now and it has free childcare...and I am ok with getting a second stroller/BOB for this later if we really need it)

I like:
1. Bassinet (so we won't always have to put her in the carseat for the first few months...but I do want to be able to use the carseat too)
2. Rear and forward facing seat
3. Ability to lay flat
4. Easy fold (and ability to stand by itself if that's important?)
5. Lightweight (duh!) although we don't anticipate doing a lot of air travel
6. Ability to add a second child, but I wouldn't want to get a super bulky stroller just for this feature since I think we will wait til #1 is around 3 to have another baby.

As far as the budget goes, I am pretty sure we will either receive it as a group gift or be able to get it with gift cards/etc after the shower. That's how we rationalized our Dyson and I'm so glad we splurged on that!!! I would probably be a little embarrassed to register for an $800 stroller but I would quickly get over it if I fall in love with the stroller since we'll use it a lot.
