@MRSMATE: Thanks for the link. :) I've never been to those stores - which may be why I haven't seen them. Will check them out so I have an idea. Will also google the micralite. (Oh no, more choices! ;p hope I don't get more confused!) really appreciate all the help from everyone! :)

I just thought of another one: the micralite fastfold super lite. It is basically an umbrella stroller w/all-terrain tires. A friend of mine (also in Boston) has it and loves it. Not the most attractive stroller out there but super functional.

Have you looked at the Bumbleride Indie? It's slightly smaller than the Vista and 5lbs lighter, but it has air-filled tires. Should be a nice city alternative to the BOBs of the world.

Thanks for everyone's responses. I'm glad to hear so many positive reviews of the g-luxe!

Still torn about which standard stroller I should get that will be a good bet for the snow. Didn't look at joggers as they are huge, heavy & bulky. We live in a condo & don't have much storage space.

Thinking if I should go with the g-luxe route & supplement later on if needed. Worse case, will just drive LO to daycare if the sidewalks have not been cleared. (Although I can imagine traffic will be a nightmare on those days!) I guess you can't have it all....

@ICG: we're in TO too and our cameleon wouldn't go through some of the snowy sidewalks last winter, so I dont know about gluxe working on those days. We used the beco when it was super snowy until the sidewalks cleared up.

@ICG: My DD was in the g Luxe during the winter and we were able to have her wear a puffy coat (not bunting) with the bundle me and a rain/wind cover. She was snug and happy in it so no complaint about that.

you might want an all terrain stroller (think jogging type) for snowy days http://www.stroller-envy.com/all-terrain-stroller.html

Thanks, Lamariniere! I feel the same way too. But very curious to know why some people say that the bugaboo frog/ cameleon is good for the snow while others seem to have a more difficult time.

@ICG: bigger wheels are definitely the key for snow. I could not push my Maclaren through the snow but all the people I saw with big-wheeled strollers didn't appear to be having any problems.

Thanks for everyone's responses. We currently live in Toronto due to DH's job. It can snow pretty bad here. I think the sidewalks are usually pretty clear but I have not really walked/ went out much last winter when DS was a newborn. I remembered there was a snowstorm one night & I needed to take DS to the daycare the following morning for a quick looksee & my stroller won't budge in thr semi-cleared sidewalk. It was in March.

The 2 part fold of the frog/ cam was what was holding me back since the stroller room in DS' daycare is really small. I liked the cruz but worry that the smaller wheels might give me the same problem in the winter. The g-luxe, same thing. Plus I've read reviews that it is hard to use the g-luxe when baby has winter clothes on plus the bundle me. DH is not comfortable to move DS to an umbrella stroller just yet. He feels it is not very secure - maybe because it does not have a bumper bar option?

We are also planning a trip to Asia end of the year & wonder if the cruz will do well traveling. I like the ideaof the g-luxe for travel. I feel like an umbrellais the way to go when DS gets bigger; but if the cruz is the in between & will fit the bill, maybe that is the way to go?

For those that have the cruz, do you find it bulky/ heavy? Can it handle the winter well? Are bigger wheels any better in the winter? I always wonder about that seeing everyone else's stroller has these big wheels during the winter...

Sorry for the long post. Really appreciate all the comments. Will keep everyone posted on what I end up with....

We have the UB vista and gluxe, and live in Boston. I would not recommend the gluxe (or any umbrella) as your only stroller in a city where it snows. The past couple of winters it absolutely dumped snow, and even where sidewalks were cleared there were many times the path wasn't wide enough to accommodate a the gluxe. Your LO may use your stroller longer than you think. My DD is 2.5 now, she has had phases when she only wants to walk, or only wants to ride the stroller (which is what she's in now).

We did things backwards. Until just a few months ago DS's only stroller was the Maclaren Techno XT, and he is 2.5. It lays flat so we used it from birth and we were in NYC, so I needed a lightweight, small stroller.

However, we moved to a snowier city last winter and I could not push the Maclaren in the snow. We bought the Bugaboo Buffalo a few months ago in preparation for the birth of our DD this coming winter and we have already used it a ton with DS. I LOVE the Buffalo, but there is no way I would have bought it if we were still in NYC as I find it to be heavy and quite wide. But, for our lifestyle here, it is perfect.

We have the older version of the g luxe and the wheels are the same on the newer version. We have no pushed it in snow yet, but it does not push in sand so I'm guessing it will be similar in snow.

We live in NYC so the G luxe is our main stroller, we had a snap and go and then transitioned to the Gluxe when she started sitting up. we're not too worried about snow since sidewalks are pretty much cleared quickly where we live.

Are you in the city? Anotherwords, would you be walking in snow on plowed sidewalks? If so, the g luxe would be fine--it pushes very smoothly over bumpy sidewalks and over gravel. It would not be great if you're going over snowbanks and things like that, however, so if you're in more of a rural/suburban setting, it might not be best. We COULD definitely use our g luxe as our primary stroller, but I don't because I love the huge basket on our vista and I like the sturdiness of the vista when we are out and about all day and he may be napping in the stroller...but I know plenty of people who use umbrella strollers starting at 6 months and that's the only thing they use.

As for the frog/cam vs the cruz, the frog and cam have 2 part folds--so the seat has to come off for it to be folded. I believe the cruz folds in one piece. So that might sway your choice?

We don't have snow in SoCal so I don't know what kind of stroller would be good for that. But we own 2 strollers (Bugaboo Bee and G-luxe) and I've never felt a need for a larger stroller. The Bee lays flat for sleeping and can be used forward facing or rear facing, which is really convenient. We've been using the Bee since she was around 7 months old. The G-luxe is lighter (which is why we bought it) but it doesn't lay all the way flat and you can't rear face it. But we use it a lot on short trips or when we go to amusement parks and don't want to have our Bee stolen (almost happened once!).

I think you can get away with just one stroller. But I don't know what kind of weather you have to deal with! You can buy those stroller cocoons for super cold weather and they fit nicely in most strollers.

Hi! I think I've officially become a "stroller-holic" if there's such a word! DS is now 9 months old. We had a G+G 051 stroller that we got before he was born. Overall, the stroller is ok; but does not do very well on snow & is bumpy on uneven sidewalks. I chose this at that time due to it being lightweight & DH being exasperated that I cannot make up my mind... & now I have buyer's remorse about this. :( the 2 strollers that I really liked at that time was the bugaboo cameleon & the uppababy cruz.

Fast forward to today. DS no longer needs a bassinet. I decided to sell my stroller & am thinking which one to get. A brand new bugaboo is off the list since DS probably won't use it for long. We are also not planning to have another baby so the cost will not justify this purchase. I did see a few 2nd hand frogs & 1st gen cameleon on craigslist with reasonable asking prices - less than $400. There are some selling barely used 2nd hand uppababy cruz for $350 as well. I also want an umbrella stroller for traveling & decided to get the uppababy g-luxe. I've looked at 2nd hand 2011 g luxe but am not really sold on it. I think I'm leaning towards the 2013 brand new one since we will probably have more use out of this now that DS is getting bigger.

So, my question is this. Can we survive with the g-luxe as a main stroller for all seasons? Can it handle snow & such? If not, which is a good buy to go with the g-luxe? The 2nd hand frog, cameleon or uppababy cruz?....is it even possible to only have 1 stroller? If so, which is my best bet?

Please share your thoughts & experiences. I'm really confused but hate my stroller everyday & would like to make the right decision this time around.

Thanks in advance!
