6w is a tough time! I was dreading days at that point. Google "The Period of Purple Crying", it's just something they all go through. Also, just because she's crying, doesn't mean she's hungry. Does she also root at all these times? She might just be sleepy and need help falling asleep (rocking, bouncing, etc.)

Yep. We had this weeks 6-8. It felt like forever at the time, but it will pass!

@butterbean: I second what pps have written. I think it's the dreaded witching hour that's so common in newborns. I think the peak is weeks 6-8. Hang in there!

There's a big growth spurt around 6w. Also it's the peak of fussiness and should get better by 8w. Hang in there!

@butterbean: there is a huge 6 week growth spurt - this article made me feel more sane - http://nurshable.com/2012/05/27/six-week-growth-spurt/ - it's just a phase, and it'll pass!! Knowing that helped me plow through. Hang in there... I know how hard the 6th week is. I think I may have called it hell once or twice...

By 7-8 weeks it felt like I was reaching the light at the end of a tunnel.

@Canoli: the cluster feeding is driving me crazy...as soon as I give her to my husband, he'll give her right back to me cuz she's hungry...

Sounds like the "witching hour(s)"to me. Both of my kids did this around that time. Eventually they grew out of it.

Could also be a growth spurt. I remember around that time just getting comfortable on the couch and let them cluster feed.

This too shall pass!

I dread putting my 6 week old to sleep for bed because I feel so helpless and lost.

Our mornings start off (relatively) good...she will take a decent nap in the morning and in the afternoon...but come 5pm, things go downhill... Everytime she cries, I nurse her but she doesn't seem content afterwards so she will continue crying... Eventually , 2-3 hours later, she will fall asleep....

Any advice? Perhaps she is colic??
