@daniellemybelle: 8wks. She hasn't gained weight as quickly since, but I've heard that's normal when they first start sttn.

@daniellemybelle: Yep, sorry. I mean during the day...still only 4x per day unless we're having a growth spurt.

@illumina: When you say the same number of times per day, you mean during the daytime, not 24 hours?

When LO started sttn she still fed the same number of times each day usually, unless she's going through a growth spurt, like now where she'll feed more often during the day so she can still sttn, I guess. Also sometimes she stays up later if she hasn't quite got her calories for that day in!

@daniellemybelle: good luck tonight. I would agree that she will let you know if she is hungry. Since she has had weight gain issues in the past is there anywhere you can weight even once a week, to put your mind at ease that she is gaining?

I usually cluster feed in the evenings to get her nice and full but tbh, not sure how much it helps.

@scg00387: Thanks! It's hard not to worry. I ended up cluster feeding before bed tonight to try to fit in more daytime feedings... We'll see how tonight goes!

@daniellemybelle: If she doesn't seem hungry, I wouldn't sweat it! Especially if you're nursing before supplementing (which it sounds like you are). Your supply might be rising, or she's taking in more from you on the day she STTNs. I wouldn't focus on the number of nursing sessions if her outputs, weight gain are good and she seems happy :) My son actually slept better when he ate fewer times during the day than when I tried to push more on him - I think he just was hungrier each time then, and ate more.

LO is flirting with STTN. I know it's probably short-lived at this age (2 months) but I don't know what to do in terms of feedings when she doesn't eat all night.

Right now we nurse every 3 hours & she gets 1.5 oz of formula after (I have low supply). Usually that adds up to 8 feedings a day, two of those overnight. When she STTN, we skip two feedings. I get up & pump once to maintain my supply. Should I supplement more after nursing? Nurse more frequently? I don't really want to change our 3 hour schedule when we just established it. I was thinking of introducing a dream feed even though she doesn't seem to need it. She doesn't act any hungrier but I am nervous about her eating enough since we had weight issues early on.
