Thanks everyone- finally got the damn thing out in the afternoon. I am going to try more lecithin to see if it helps going forward!

@MoonMoon: @blackbird: @Ms.Badger: what kind of lecithin supplements do you all use/how much a day? I have issues swallowing enormous pills (which all the lecithin capsules seem to be) so started adding a scoop of lecithin granules to my morning oatmeal but haven't seen much of a difference yet. Maybe I need to eat more? I have been getting a clog every few days since around Halloween  but I have never had this hard of a time getting it out. I think @mediagirl is right- it's because it is waaaay up there (practically to my armpit) and hard to get to.

I second Lecithin supplements to help prevent clogs. I was getting one every damn week when I went back to work, and I'm two weeks clog free! No advice on unclogging your current one, the only thing that works for me is nursing my son. Good luck!

Lecithin! The clogs I had actually had blocked pores so I had to squeeze SUPER hard and the pressure would burst. I also did some ice to decrease the inflammation from all the tissue abuse

I'm so sorry! That's so not fun.

Have you tried Epsom salt soaks, or lecithin supplements? I didn't have a clog but a milk blister and these things seemed to help.

@abmamma: agree with @mediagirl: also right after you do that (I used a pot of water on the table and just leaned over) pump immediately with your boobs facing the ground super awkward but gravity is your friend!

@regberadaisy: I keep thinking that too but if it is, it's teeny tiny because I can't find it. Last night I was so desperate, I was poking any and all parts of my nipple with a steriluzed needle just in case but no luck!

Ones that high are tough because you have to work them hard. I found best results when I got into a hot tub of water on my knees and dangled my breasts into the water. Then use your fingers and/or thumb and push on your breast above the clot, keep sliding your hands down your breast until you push out through your nipple. Make sure you keep sliding your hands down until you get to your nipple. It sounds weird but it worked great for me when I would get clots when I was EPing, as well.

Any chance it's a milk blister? If you look very carefully, do you notice any raised white bumps on your nipples? The last few times I can't empty with a pump or via nursing it was bc of a milk blister.

I'm an EP-er and have had a hard time with recurrent clogged ducts. Usually I can get them out with heat and massage but I have a massive clog way up on one of my boobs that I can't get rid of! I've done multiple types of heat (booby tubes, wet/microwaved breast pad, not shower) and massage and two different pumps but it is still there (24 hours later). It hurts, is impacting my output and I'm so worried about mastitis!! Any other suggestions ??

Also any suggestions for how to prevent going forward? I did not have this problem with my first LO (although I had supply issues so wasn't much milk to begin with then) and it is really starting to wear on me. I can't help but wonder if all this is worth it, especially when I will be going back to work in a few weeks... :bummed:
