When I get him up from bed or come home after work and he reaches for me and hugs me.

Or anytime we make him laugh. I love seeing him happy with us. Makes me feel like we're doing something right.

When he snuggles into my shoulder (he's 9 months and just started doing it) it makes me realize he does love me more than anyone else (so far) :-)

Good naps. And the shocked faces when I tell other moms about his naps (comes up in convo, it's not like I just blurt it out, ha). I worked really hard to get him to be a good napper. It wasn't always that way!

When people say he looks so happy, which happens almost daily (he is very smiley). I know it's at least partly "personality" but the fact that he's so happy makes me feel like I must have some part in it :-)

When my husband tells me I'm doing a good job. He rarely gives compliments so when he does it makes me feel like I must be doing something right.

@Cherrybee: last week I would have said nothing. It was just an awful week. But this week she is being really good and I'm patting myself on the back. If I beat myself up when she misbehaves I deserve to take credit when she's good right? But the limit testing....

Anytime I manage myself and my 1yo out of the house and spend time outside/walking/doing something with other people. When we are at home I feel like we get into a rut, so getting out makes me feel much better about my parenting!

When she shares without prompting. It's a hard concept and Daniel Tiger has definitely helped us, but she has gotten so good at sharing her toys and taking turns. It makes me really proud. She also almost always says please, which I like, but I feel like that's almost a reflex, like she thinks "more please" is the only way to ask for something. She also frequently says thank you and says Bless you! when someone sneezes. Kids are cute.

For the toddler: manners, general kindness, go with the flow attitude, good sleeper.

For the baby: happy, good sleeper.

@.twist.: OMG!! That's so cute and awesome!!

I'm jelly of all you ladies with the kiddos saying, please, thank you, etc. DS can say them, but only when he wants to. So frustrating. I'm looking forward to when he's using it more consistently. He doesn't say many words in general, unless he wants to. I know he knows them because I hear it once in awhile.

My parenting win would be when he calls out to me because he missed me or is looking for me; and when he gives me a kiss randomly. *cue melty heart*

When my mom gives me a compliment. She was queen SAHM, leader of mommy & me, and PTA president. She does not understand my WOH lifestyle. She is not often negative but when she can find something nice to say it makes me feel like I must be doing something right.

Ha when he lectures me and D if we don't say "you're welcome" He might hand something to me and I might absentmindedly say "thank you", and then he'll say "Mom. Say you're welcome!"

And as much as I don't necessarily need validation from other people, I'm always proud when other people (other parents, family members, his teachers, anyone) tell me how well-behaved and sweet he is, or how smart he is.

When DS1 uses his manners - saying please and thank you. And he recently started saying excuse me when he burps. It's so cute!

And when he takes care of his brother. Yesterday he shared his ice cream with his brother without us telling him to and then he would wipe his mouth off with a napkin. It was so sweet.

Mine is just because of my specific background with being super lazy with cooking/having bad food habits pre LO. But my little victories are usually that Dh and I both work full time and have long commutes, but we still manage to cook LO 3 meals a day and pack 2 snacks, and because of her MSPI they are all pretty healthy.

Our daycare provides lunch and snacks, but our LO can't eat any of it because 95% of it has dairy or soy. She also can't eat most frozen/processed foods because of soy. So sometimes when I drop her at daycare and all the other toddlers are eating frozen waffles, mini boxes of sugar cereals, mini packets of bought muffins, cheese cubes, etc (all easy stuff that our LO can't eat), I feel a mixture of envy over the easiness of their meals and pride that somehow lazy me and super-busy DH manages to make and pack all her meals and they are pretty healthy and unprocessed, too.

What stuff makes you feel like you're killin' it as a parent?

For me, it's when I'm able to get one or both kids ready for school + a hot breakfast in their stomachs + my son to school early. Came so close today! But we enjoyed the walk this morning a little too much, and lost a few minutes that way. I'm still counting it as a win though! That's my secret to parenting: low expectations.
