@BabyBoecksMom: Thanks! I'll definitely add food to the list (how could I forget?!)

@stine_ciro: @LalaYes: I'm so sorry you have firsthand experience with this but appreciate your insight. @LalaYes, I am craving a Marie Calendar's pie bad right now!

You are such a sweet friend! When I had a loss I sent my DH to the store for a Marie Calendar's Chocolate Satin Pie which I ate pretty much by myself over the weekend. It depends on what her indulgences are, but if it were me, I would be delighted by the chocolates.

I think the ideas you have we're great. A friend sent flowers when I had one and just the fact that someone cared enough to send them made me feel better.

Awwww I'm sorry to hear this, but I think you already have some great ideas. The only thing I might add is gift certificates to their favorite restaurant(s) so they can order takeout instead of worrying about cooking.

I just found out a close friend is having a D&C tomorrow and I want to do something to cheer her up (as much as that's possible given the circumstances). We live across the country so options are limited but I want to send some stuff from Amazon to distract her while she's recovering. Here are initial ideas but I'd love suggestions:
- Funny and/or can't-put-down books (I was thinking the new Hyperbole and a Half but any other suggestions?)
- Magazines like People, US Weekly
- Fancy chocolate
- Comfy pajamas

Unfortunately wine shipping is not available in her state. For those that have been through this (or anyone really), anything else that would lift your spirits a little in this situation?
