This happened to me too! My pregnancy was only in one calendar year but spanned two insurance years. And given that I had a previous miscarriage and then 5 ER visits during the length of the pregnancy you can bet we met the out pocket max both years!

Ugh, hate. And feel your pain. My pregnancy spans 2 years as well and it sucks financially.

I was a little annoyed that L was born mid-January because we have an HSA account (high deductible), and we had already met our out of pocket max while I was pregnant (also had an ectopic earlier that year, which is what cost so dang much). So, all the labor, delivery and hospital bills would have been no additional cost if she had been born 15 days earlier. UGH

I was excited that LO#2 was due mid-August, the whole pregnancy in one plan-year, yay!! Oh wait, my company has a plan year from Sept 1 - Aug 31... WHAT?? Then we realized my due date was off, so I'm due closer to the end of August. If LO #2 is one week late, I'm in another plan year AGAIN!

Good grief...

I remember when we used to have money...
