i have had really great luck at my local consignment shop too, especially with vintage finds!

with children's clothes, i have to browse regularly. there are often sales, and they don't add new clothes often like they do with adult clothes.

you can really find cute stuff at gap and old navy. i also love h&m, zara, and mini boden. there are lots of smaller independent labels too, but they get pricey like nellystella. i need to update our children's clothes directory!

Oh that is AWESOME! I know we will get a ton of newborn-6 months clothes at the baby shower. So I've been shifting my shopping eyes to larger clothing for down the line when we will stop getting gifts. I've been buying up to 24 months and less frequently than when we first found out it's a girl! But I don't have ANY offers for hand-me-downs, so that is great that you're getting boxes!

@shopaholic: Haven't had to do much shopping lately! People keep sending over boxes and boxes of clothes!

I still have had the most luck at that consignment shop that is near my house. Everything is in perfect shape, really affordable, and perfectly organized. We are definitely set on newborn sized items so we will be in good shape for when the baby arrives, and then I know that if I need anything specific I can hop over to that store if I need to and grab a few essentials. We also still have both of our baby showers coming up, so we may get more clothes in the sizes we are a little less full on (0-3 and 3-6 month sizes). And then we have a crazy amount of 6-9 months that we've gotten as hand-me-downs. So we are in good shape for now!

I recently found the cutest website. Avenclothing.com. I love the skinny jeans they have for little boys lol. I luck out at my local thrift store though. They always have Ralph Lauren and Janie and jack stuff for so freaking cheap, I just can't pass it up! I am so not a fan of cutesy baby clothes and disney characters.

Besides what's already mentioned, I love Nordstroms for baby and toddler girls' clothes and shoes.... Oooh do they have a nice collection of shoes! It can be pricey at times, but cheaper than Bloomies... they also have some sales and I have their debit/rewards card.

I agree with zulily. I have found many nice outfits on there for decent pricing. I also happen to love Gymboree. I wait for sales and got a some adorable pieces for $4-$10. That being said, I did not buy a lot because we did get a lot of clothing gifts and I did receive some hand-me-downs from friends.

I agree with Artbee: you might not need to shop. I have a boy and I still haven't bought any clothes because of all the millions of things that people have bought me (sizes newborn through to 6 months totally covered). Sure, people will buy things that you don't like, but people will also buy things that you'll love and you can just dress your little girl more often in those things.

Online I like Baxter and Beatrice, violet and moss, oh I'm forgetting the others but just stalk zulily for a couple of weeks and you'll find what you like. There is a lot of crap, so you've got to wade through and wait for the designer stuff to pop up. I'd say that on any given day I like one designer... Sometimes none, but I'm super picky and have similar requirements as you

I also shop consignment. We have a nice one and I figure it's better to be cheap because they grow out of it so fast.

Are you having a shower? I barely had to buy clothes because everyone loves shopping for baby girls, so I wouldn't go too crazy buying for her.

Ralph Lauren was having a sale + an additional 25% off. Also if you create an online account with them they send you an e-mail for free shippinig (saves you $5 to $8 on shipping) one time.

Janie and Jack, Tea Collection, H&M, Old Navy, Gymboree, Pumpkin Patch and Zara. H&M and Old Navy are the most affordable of those. Pumpkin Patch, Zara, Tea Collection and Gymboree are pricey but run decent sales. Janie and Jack is fairly expensive, even on sale.

Now that we know the gender, (a girl) I'm ready to shop! I swung by the mall yesterday and couldn't find anything I liked. Everything was either covered in glitter, had weird sayings, and/or totally tacky looking.

I want to dress her in regular, stylish clothing that happens to be teeny tiny - as opposed to obviously "baby stuff". Oh and I don't want to spend a fortune, if possible.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The only place I had any luck yesterday was at an awesome consignment shop in town. Hope that place stays open forever!
