Thanks for all the input! Hopefully the kids will be motivated to share nicely so they each can be involved in more projects.

@mrs.kiwi: I'll look into Ivy Kids. I hadn't heard of that one.

We are on month 3 of a single Kiwi Crate subscription shared between two kids (7yo and 4 yo). It's been okay for us so far!

Month 1: They sent an arcade-style claw machine game to build. My 7yo built the claw, almost totally by himself. I helped my 4yo make the little thingies that the claw can grab out of yarn and googly eyes. She loved them. Once both were made, the kids took turns using the claw.

Month 2: They sent two space-themed activities, a lantern and a constellation finder. We worked together to make both of them. The lantern lives in the 4yo's room (she was actually in need of her own night light so all agreed this was a great solution!) and kids lost interest in the constellation finder so it's somewhere in the abyss of toys now.

Month 3: The theme was air pressure and they sent materials to build two kites and a rocket launcher. Each kid made their own kite, which they both have LOVED. We made the rocket launcher together and there are multiple rockets so they take turns with them.

All this to say, I have found the kits to be shareable and one subscription sufficient for two kids, so far!

Just chiming in to say ivy kids adds materials for siblings for $5. Ivy kids is a literary based subscription though. You receive one book a month with crafts, activities, science/math projects related to the book.

My twins share it quite easily, but that could be because they have very different interests and they are the same age.

We have Kiwi Crates for both my kids (4 and 6) - one has Kiwi and one gets Koala. It’s sometimes a problem with one kid wants what the other kid has, so I guess even getting two won’t solve it! I guess with sharing they could just alternate steps, or each pick one of the projects to take on.

My kids are those exact ages and we share a Kiwi crate. Mostly it goes OK. We make the projects together and then we fight about them for three days and then pretty much nobody ever plays with them again. But the creation is the important part of the experience, and that goes well with two.

A family friend got us a little passports subscription. My older kids are 5 and 8. There is usually a flutter of “I want that!” at the beginning over the coin or some of the special items included - like one had a geode or quartz or something, one had an easel with small canvas. Only one of each so probably meant for one child. But you can read the materials all together. I won’t renew it with my own money because it doesn’t hold interest long without me leading it.

I’ve always been interested in kiwi though and hope to read a review here! Same problem here where i don’t want to buy two.

Do you have experience sharing Kiwi Crate or Little Passports between siblings? I see that Little Passports has a 10% sibling discount but that's still steep and I don't want two sets of everything around my house. How problematic is sharing?

My kids are going into 2nd grade and Kindergarten. I ordered two different Kiwi Crates summer camp in a box but I'm hoping they can double up on both.
