I did walk a block to the bus stop until 2nd grade (with my older sister and brother) but then I switched schools to one that didn't have buses where I lived, so my mom drove us. In high school the bus picked me up at my house! (Though, I was the first stop at 6:30 am, so not THAT spoiled!)</p> <p>I can kind of see driving a kid to the bus in this weather, especially if you are leaving right for work when they get picked up. I mean... it's really cold! However, I would never drive to the mail box. I mean, stop on my way if I was going past it in the car, but wouldn't go out of my way. And if I missed the bus I had to walk almost 4 miles home along the main road in town. A 2 lane highway! I was a total latch key kid. I never did the bus thing because I went to Catholic school and we didn't have buses, but I did walk to school. It was maybe half a mile away and it was totally fine - even in the city. I literally witnessed a mom come pick her preteen daughter up at the entrance of our neighborhood and drive her maybe 1/8 of a mile back home. It also a bus stop for school kids. There are about 5 or 6 little 7 year olds waiting for the school bus every morning. What kills me is that their parents DRIVE them to the bus stop, then sit in their cars to wait for the bus to get there. It kills me that these kids don't even walk to their own bus stops anymore.... seriously. It's not a busy street, it's not unsafe. Ugh, #firstworldproblems. </p>
