So shockingly daycare actually kept LO in just her underwear yesterday. They said she stayed dry all morning. She still had her one underwear and it didn't look like they used any of the pull ups we sent. So I wonder if she had no accidents? I should have DH ask at pick up!

@locavore_mama: Sounds like your LO has done really well, too! I think having low expectations really goes a long way in having a good experience :)

I know we're in the minority, but potty training has been kind of a non-event for us. She pretty much had it down after the first day. We had 3-4 accidents that first morning, but probably less than 10 since. We've never needed a pull-up for naps and she wakes up dry in the mornings about half the time. I think she was just ready and capable of understanding. She just did it. It's been nice!

After day 1, she got the hang of it but still had 1 or 2 more pee accidents after boot camp. Within two weeks it was all good. We potty trained at 29 months.

@locavore_mama: great progress! After a few weeks my son was always dry for naps and by about a month, was dry in the mornings. We stopped using diapers completely about 3 months after potty training and I think he has had just one bed accident since! However, I was fully prepared to continue night diapers for as long as it took (I was imagining years!), he just figured it out on his own much earlier than I thought he would.

LO sounds like she's doing pretty well! Day 1 was really frustrating because she held in her pee, and would only go once i put a diaper on her. Day 2 she had 1 accident , and day 3 she pooped in the toilet, but only because we had an idea as to when she would (right after breakfast). I'm really reluctant to do potty boot camp right now - i think i'll give her another week or so before i do it.

Day 2 is 1 pee accident and again caught her as she was pooping. Tomorrow is daycare and we'll let them know to ask her every hour on the hour but we'll be sending her in pull ups.

@lamariniere: same here! She's been dry after naps. Today almost a 3 hour nap and completely dry! I was so proud. :D Overnight we still put diapers on her and don't expect her to be trained any time soon for that. DH said her morning diapers are not soaked but she always wants water at bedtime.

My son was 30 months. Day one he figured out pee pretty much right away, and had maybe 1 accident. Poop took about 2 weeks. He wasn't having accidents, but we kept him in diapers for naps and nighttime, so he would wait for a diaper to poop.

Sounds like a good day!

Our first day...3 pees in the potty and 4 pee accidents in undies. 1 poop accident in undies.

@locavore_mama: i think it really helps! we are not big on screen time but LO loves elmo and i think it normalizes it for them, and gives you something to do all day while waiting for LOs to pe!

@locavore_mama: we spent a lot of time watching elmo potty and even if you don't go that route, I really liked the concept of "listen to your body" so you know when to go. We used a lot of those talking points to reinforce it for LO.

I think that success rate is really good! Hope tomorrow goes better for you!

@MamaCate: Thanks! She's also 27m! I would LOVE to only have one in daytime diapers....
We started when we got out of bed around 730 until right before dinner time. She had two consecutive accidents so DH put a pull up on her while we ate dinner. Probably not the best thing....

But yes, we're being very encouraging and excited when she does pee in the potty. And reminding her when she has an accident and after successful pees that she needs to tell us when she has to go. I think that's our biggest obstacle. Is her not telling us when she needs to!

I think that sounds like a great start! LO was already telling us when she had to go when we did it (27 mos) but we still had some ups and downs.

I just want to warn you that day 2 was a little harder for us than day 1 (although we didn't start day 1 until after nap due to scheduling) and then things improved the end of day 2 and day 3.

Good luck--how great would it be to only have one in diapers! Just stay really positive and encouraging!

So...I decided at almost 38 weeks was a good time to start potty training boot camp. :bummed:

Today we kept LO in underwear all day and took her to the bathroom every 30 minutes to an hour. She had 3 pee accidents and 1 mid poop. I would say the pee in toilet success rate was 75%.

I think for day 1 she did pretty well but DH thinks she did bad! I think his (and mine too) biggest concern is she does not tell us when she needs to go.

Anyway from what I've read and seen on here; day 1 is usually the hardest and then it gets better.

Just wondering what everyone's success rate on day 1 was?

Wish me luck tomorrow!
