@Zbug: Stress is an odd, complicated thing too. Throughout the TTC process, I didn't "feel" stressed at all and seemed very happy (I felt pretty happy!) but I suppose I really buried a lot of it. Your brain doesn't lie to your body. In a somewhat related vein, my friend was getting married and also felt fine and unstressed but broke out in massive hives that only went away after her wedding. She says looking back she thinks it was stress manifesting itself.
My acupuncturist helped me work thorough some of my control and "buried stress" issues.

@pachamama: thanks. I would say I have a fair amount of stress currently, so that would make sense

@Zbug: I had SUPER low progesterone and got pregnant. I believe progesterone is connected to stress- for me, it caused a lot of spotting and shortened my periods.
The month i conceived, I did end up going on Endometrin suppositories 200mg a day from CD18- 12 weeks pregnancy. I heard the vaginal suppositories cause WAY less side effects than oral.

@Mrs. Pink: I was told suppositories are more effective than taking them orally...

@wheres_c: good to know. Thank you! I'm freaking out much less now.

My progesterone was under 10 with LO1. I took suppositories but they never remeasured progesterone after the suppositories.

Is there a reason they did suppositories? They suggested pills to me since they prefer not to do shots in office anymore (the doc Tha advocated them moved)

@Zbug: I hope it all works out! I know how scary it can be when you've had miscarriages. I had two MC's before I had my son.

@Mrs. Pink: @mrskc: you guys, thank you! This is really helpful. I've been stressing that the low progesterone is just due to a bad egg and that I'm setting myself up for another late miscarriage. It makes me feel so much better knowing that people have had healthy babies with low levels.

@mrskc: I'm six weeks today or tomorrow. I had an ultrasound last week but it was a little unclear whether there was a yolk sac. I have a followup this week. I saw a heartbeat with my miscarriage though, so I don't think I'm going to feel safe for awhile. It would be nice to see one though!

With my DD, my progesterone level was at 8.9. There was issues with the lab, it was right around Christmas and I didn't even receive these results until I was almost 6 weeks. all that to say is that I was not even on progesterone supplements all that time when it should have been, but it all turned out ok! My DD is almost 1.5.

I remember finding an article that said that progesterone under 10 actually was ok in pregnancy. That under 5 pretty much meant not a viable pregnancy. Of course I can't find the article anymore. It made me feel a little better. I was soooo worried at the time before I got an ultrasound and we saw and heard a heartbeat.

Hang in there! How many weeks are you? Can you get an ultrasound done to put you at ease?

Adding- I also took an herbal tincture with this pregnancy from confirmed ovulation- it helped a lot-- I wasn't initially even needing the pills (70) but had my levels tested again when I missed a day and it got super low around 10 so they popped me on the pills! I think it helped get me to the 6 weeks but of course I'm no doctor and so I can't 100% say it was the saver on that!

With both pregnancies that I've carried over 6 weeks (I've had 2 mcs at before 6 weeks) I've had really low progesterone- less than half the lowest safe level- I've been on shots and done pills-- both have worked great-- I was done with Progrsterone at 18 weeks with DD and this one I'm 16+5 and still on them

@FaithFertility: thank you :heart:

@fancyfunction: thanks. This is part of my concern. I know blood doesn't accurately represent suppositories, but my levels were only 10.8 while taking prometrium since ovulation. I'm afraid my body isn't producing much at all and that means it's not a good egg. Ugh.

I was put on Prometrium for the first 12 weeks of my first pregnancy. Progesterone was low but I'm not sure of the number. Everything worked out fine. This time I was tested at 6 weeks and it was 14. Went on Prometrium again and the numbers doubled within a week. I'm now almost 31 weeks. Hope everything goes well!

@Zbug: When I got PG with DD naturally after many IUI attemps and 2 early losses... I was still seeing my RE my progestrone was 21 and fell to 17 he assured me anything over 10 naturally was good! But, I had crinone left over from IUI cycles and he said if made me feel better I could take it! I did, but never had my progesterone checked again, as blood doesn't show the suppositories well!

Prayers to you, I know how hard it is!!!

@raintreebee: true. My concern is that my body is producing fairly low levels of progesterone naturally. First ultrasound was inconclusive for yolk sac. Followup this week.

@dc yoga bee: thanks! Glad it all worked out for you! Good to know.

I'm sorry for your previous loss. My progesterone was a 11, and my RE immediately put me on suppositories, as she said it needs to be at least 10 to sustain a pregnancy. It bumped up over the three day weekend, and she had me stop taking them. Baby is 7 months old. I hope everything works out.

@Zbug: I've always thought that you can't rely on blood levels when using suppositories. Also those levels don't seem that low to me for a natural pregnancy. Are you having an early ultrasound?

Back story:
Wasn't tested for progesterone with dd. No known issues.

Progesterone was 14 with mmc. Used natural progesterone cream.

With this pregnancy, I've been on suppositories since ovulation. Was just under 11 last week (although levels in uterus probably higher due to prometrium).

My worry is that the progesterone cream delayed my miscarriage last time and my fairly low levels this time mean that the embryo isn't doing well. I'm concerned that I'm just delaying another miscarriage.

Thoughts? Experiences with low levels of progesterone and a healthy pregnancy?
