@reverie: omg I just want to yell at everybody! It was my weekend to work and I got yelled at because someone didn't have their insurance information and was mad the company was closed. Totally my fault on a Sunday when their scripts had been ready for. 2 weeks! I often wonder what I'm doing.....

@reverie: I specifically asked my midwife about this because I was getting brutal, awful headaches for days. She said it was ok used sparingly after the first trimester. As luck would have it, my headaches eased up after that and I didn't need it after all, but knowing I could helped. I think if to still terrible you should take it.

That said, I've always been prone to headaches, and had one week between weaning my toddler and getting my BFP, bought a big old box of sudafed, and then found out I couldn't take it again for another two years with pregnancy and nursing. So sad. :(

@reverie: girl I'm a pharmacist too! I work 11 hour days and I can't imagine feeling like crap! Plus it's a Tuesday so I'm sure it's nuts by you, just go ahead! When I was pregnant I always took 1 first to see if that would do the trick

@Freckles: sad truth is I am a pharmacist. what I know on paper and what I want to do for my kid don't often match. I think too much knowledge is what is leading to my issues. I'm giving myself until 3pm... at that point I'll have 4 hours left of work and if I'm still taking phone call after phone call and hurting I'm going to bite the bullet.

I always consult motherrisk.org for these type of concerns: http://www.motherisk.org/prof/updatesDetail.jsp?content_id=881

They have sudafed as "possibly safe" which means while it isn't necessarily dangerous to the fetus, there is limited info that states it is safe for the fetus. You can probably limit how much you take to a couple of days- and talk to your pharmacist- he/she may have a better recommendation to treat your symptoms.

I gave in and took it, but it made me crazy hyper. I was miserable because I couldn't sleep, and sudafed didn't help that.

DH did find Nasalcrom (which I'd never heard of) that's a nose spray that's category B. Between that and sleeping with nose strips I felt better in a few days.

OH! and hot compresses on my forehead helped with the pressure/pain. I went to bed with a rice pack on my head most nights.

While I didn't take it with this pregnancy, I did when I was pregnant with DS1 because I was miserable and desperate. It helped immensely. My vote is to just do it. Just make sure it's plain sudafed and doesn't have any of the extras.

If you don't have a high blood pressure, go for it. Sudafed raises blood pressure, but if you have low/normal, you'll be fine.

Get well soon!!

I don't know why I'm hyper obsessing about this but I thought I'd ask you all. I'm 14 weeks today. So just barely second trimester. I have my second cold in the past month and I'm really struggling. I have sinus pressure and while I would love to "rest" like all the advice out there says to do I have a toddler and a 10 hour work day today.

Would you personally take sudafed at this point? It is on my OB's "safe" list for second trimester, but I'm having a hard time committing. I really don't think one of anything is really going to do anything to the baby but OMG HYPERFIXATING on this stupid pill.

Two colds in a month when pregnant is really cruel.
