@turquoisemama: the feelings seem to be more out of my control. To be honest, when I get my period I don't really think about it that much. I mean I do, but not a lot. And the symptoms I'm describing usually begin about 10 to 12 days prior to starting my period. I won't even realize what's happening for a few days and then it clicks. I've never had problems with yeast infections before but that doesn't mean you're wrong about the heat, we are outside a lot!

I'm really sorry, this sounds super frustrating. Another thing that might be worth looking into is a B complex vitamin - my main motivation for taking it was to reduce spotting and lengthen my luteal phase (it worked for that) but I also noticed that it helped with other symptoms, which granted weren't too severe. I know some people who swear by clary sage in a carrier oil to reduce pms symptoms. I tried it for mild cramping and it seemed to help. I haven't tried probiotics for yeast infection, but after I went off birth control, I was getting daily stomach aches, and I read somewhere that hormonal changes can really mess up your body's good bacteria. I started drinking kefir several times per week and it really, really helped.

@Mrs. Sunshine: I wonder if the yeast infections are more related to the summer heat? It also sounds totally reasonable that you are experiencing sad emotions during periods following a miscarriage. I mean a period is a clear reminder that you're not pregnant so I think anyone would be feeling sad about that.

I hope you find some answers and feel better soon!

Thanks ladies.
@OldpuebloJenn: I had a huge breakdown Thursday night (poor DH was so bewildered and I could even explain myself because of my sobbing) when I realized that something wasn't right and I hadn't been right for a few days. I've been trying to manage the sadness with doses of St. John's Wort and essential oils but I've been at that for a day so I have no idea if it's helping. This is my 3rd yeast infection in 4 months so I'll definitely start probiotics as a preventive. I'll look into evening primrose oil too, thank you!

My periods after my MC were different than before. I got pregnant 6 months after it and they still weren't back to normal. My cycle length just kept increasing. I have no idea how long it would have taken to get back to normal.

A few months after my miscarriage, I went to see an RE and had some blood work done. I had super low progesterone levels and lots of other unpleasant symptoms (horrible acne along my jaw, yeast infection, super emotional, late ovulation, etc). As I understand it, your hormone levels can fluctuate wildly after a miscarriage. My loss was in June and these symptoms persisted until about November. I did acupuncture to try to help things along.

My periods after my mc were way more emotional- but I feel a lot was manufactured by me with my own grief. I was sad I wasn't pregnant, I was sad I wasn't getting pregnant, etc.
my periods after dd1 were really amplified, lots of emotions, lots of symptoms. I don't like taking oral contraceptives, even though that was offered as an option of relief. I started taking evening primrose oil capsules in the few days leading up to and through my period and that really helped lesson my symptoms.
If I were you, I'd add in a probiotic (either all the time or at least a week prior to period) for the yeast infections and evening primrose for the emotional symptoms and see after 1-2 periods if that helps. But a call to your midwife or ob is never a bad idea!

My entire menstruating life, I've had the same PMS symptoms. They've intensified over time but they've always been the same. Horrible cramps, nausea, gas, fatigue, increased libido, irritability, anger, joint pain, etc.

The last 2 periods I've had completely different symptoms. Yeast infection, extreme sadness, feelings of hopelessness, lots of crying, drop in libido, anxiety and some irritability and cravings. I still have some cramping and joint pain but not as much. Nothing really has changed in my diet of exercise. I have no idea what's causing these changes and if I should be concerned. This is my 4th period since my miscarriage and my two periods prior were perfectly normal, just a little more intense than usual. I have no idea if the MC has anything to do with this or not. Anyone else have experience with this?
