My 2yo recently went through this. She would scream as soon as we put her into the crib at night and wouldn't calm down until we held her. She didn't do this for naps, though, so we wondered if she was afraid of the dark. We bought a lamp with adjustable light and keep the light on very, very low (but more than a night light). It totally helped! She's been sleeping much better - no screaming when we put her down (some protesting, but that's to be expected) and no more waking up hysterically in the middle of the night.

I got nothing. Just wanted to bump.

Our LO has always been very attached to us and would rather sleep with us than be alone. We have definitely failed at sleep training. We normally just stay with him till he falls asleep and sneak out. Which we would NOT recommend to anyone!

LO is 11 months and has always gone down to sleep easily. I would put him in drowsy and he'd be asleep within 5 minutes. However, for the past two weeks, he's been screaming (and standing up) as soon as he's put in his crib. It happens again 1-2 each night when he wakes up. Here's what we've tried so far:

Rocking him - he continues screaming and tried to wrench away

Sitting on the floor next to the crib - no effect

Lying down next to him our bed - rolls around and cries

Picking him up and walking around - he calms completely down until you try to get him to sleep and then the screaming commences

Cry it out - he can scream for a really long time. We haven't been able to handle more than a hour of crying

Going for a ride in the car - falls asleep within 10 minutes! DH is all for doing this every night, but I told him that's not going to happen!

Any thoughts on what we should do?
