Thanks so much for the feedback everyone! In the last few days, I have felt that I have more of a supply than I had earlier, mainly I am feeling some engorgement if she takes a longer nap which I hadn't been feeling before... So perhaps my supply has caught up with her or possibly surpassed...! @Ms.SK: I have been pumping a bit more often. Trying to get a little extra stored so we have some more flexibility as the in-laws are in town for a long visit and to start building a freezer stash for when I return to work.

I really appreciate hearing about others' experiences, makes me feel a little less confused about this whole thing!

It could be a symptom of oversupply. Have you increased or started pumping recently?

It could just be that LO is eating larger quantities than she used to, and is therefore spitting up more. My LO was similar, but it never bothered him. The eating often is normal at that age.

Yes, it sounds similar to my experience with overactive letdown and oversupply.

I was going to say reflux or your milk is letting down too fast.

@littleowl88: haha, I'm a second-time mom and all babies are different so I'm still trying to figure out the best way to feed DD#2! :)

It sounds like she's just getting antsy waiting for the milk to flow. And once the milk flows it may be coming out a bit faster than she's ready for so she's getting extra air. Sounds very normal, but just keep an eye on her to see if the spitting up starts to bother her more.

@kemma: Is it a growth spurt if it lasts for a week and a half? Ever since her 2-week appt, she has wanted to eat every 1-1.5 hours during the day except for maybe a 2-3 hour nap sometimes... and yeah, I definitely hear lots of gulping/slurping while she eats so maybe that is part of it!

@beachbee: She does arch her back/cry/claw at my boobs at the start of feedings fairly often... but usually once the milk starts flowing she'll settle down and be mostly content for the rest of the feed. So I don't know if those are reflux signs, since they aren't happening when she's actually spitting up? I thought maybe my milk just took too long to let down for her liking... but I'm definitely a clueless FTM on all this feeding stuff!!

Has she just had a growth spurt? It could be that the milk flow is quite fast and she's struggling to keep up with it. My LO was a "happy chucker" because she was a very gulpy feeder and took in a lot of air while feeding.

Yeah, could be reflux. I think that's around the time LO's showed up also. Just keep an eye on it, if she doesn't seem bothered she's probably fine. But if she starts arching her back, crying alot or refusing the breast, may want to check with her pedi.

It could be that reflux is starting to kick in? It happened around 3 weeks for LO.

My 3.5 week old has rarely spit up until today... since this morning she has done so three times, once during her nap and twice during feedings when she was still on the boob. I'm not sure why she's suddenly spitting up so much - any ideas on what might be going on, or what I can do to minimize it? She doesn't seem too bothered by it luckily.
