@MsLipGloss: I was giving her Advil but now that I think about it, I forgot to give it to her last night! I'll try it again tonight. Advil is always hit or miss though because sometimes she'll wake up when it wears off and the pain comes back!

@BelugaBean: Have you tried giving her a little bit of Tylenol at bedtime to help with teething discomfort? It might help to smooth out her sleep.

@MsLipGloss: *In general* she still sleeps about 12 hours at night at least and at least 1.5 hour naps during the day even now when her sleep isn't as good as it was. But it seems that she's waking up more (however, she falls right back asleep at night after I come in and comfort her).

@regberadaisy: We cut the nap out a week or two after she started refusing one at 10.5 months. I'm also suspicious that more teeth are coming in because of other symptoms (growling like she does when she gets teeth, grinding the teeth she has, chewing ferociously on more things everyday, etc).

Teething? Could be the walking? Is she perhaps maybe ready to cut one nap out?

I have no advice, just empathy...mine is just under 11 months and this is how the last week or so has been for us. The first time I'll bring him out into the living room and change his diaper (making it all business...no cuddling or playing), give him a sip of water and put him back down. Every time after that I give him a sip of water, reset his sound machine and lay him back down.

Last night I tried to wait him out to see if he'd go back to sleep on his own but after 5 minutes he started wailing. I'm not sure what's causing it but I hope it passes soon (for both of us!)--Mama is tired (and I'm sure you are too!)

@MsLipGloss: I've been trying to give her two naps but she isn't having it. Usually she's sleeping 12.5 hours at night with a 2 hour nap during the day but her sleep has just been bad lately.

I think in addition to all of the milestone activity, she is overtired. One nap a day for a LO that young is probably not enough sleep.

@bpcmarj: I'm waiting a few minutes but she becomes hysterical pretty quickly. I guess I'll try five minutes tonight if she does it again.

@Bluebonnet: I thought of this but in general she's not cranky and I figured if something hurt, she wouldn't go back to sleep so easily.

This morning she slept until 8 which was nice but the wake ups have me exhausted today.

E does this from time to time too. It usually takes about a week and he'll go back to sleeping through the night. I think it's a separation anxiety thing and he just wants to know someone is there, so I cuddle him for a minute and he goes right back down. We also try to get him to lay back down and if he wakes up real early. He sometimes wakes up at like 6, but if we let him grumble or sometimes he just talks to himself, then he'll usually fall back asleep after a half hour or so and sleep another couple hours. 8 is a much more agreeable wakeup time for everyone.

Have you had her ears checked? LO is up multiple times a night crying when she has an ear infection.

The 55 week wonder week was hell for me and several friends. How long are you waiting before you go in? All the things you mentioned, plus teething, caused a pretty rough patch of sleep for us, too.

she could be about to enter a wonder week or may just be going through a lot developmentally. is she teething? not sure if that affects her sleep or not though. i would maybe give her 10 minutes and see if she goes back down on her own, and if not, she may just need more help getting through whatever it is. i would give it a week or so and see if things go back to normal or work themselves out. we sleep trained at 6.5 months and we still have nights where LO gets up multiple times (esp this past week- sleep has been rough!) but she is also about to enter a wonder week. hope others have more advice for you!!

LO is a little over 11 months and since we sleep trained her at 5.5 months, has never woken up more than once a night. Lately her wakeup time for the day has varied and last night she woke up three times crying until I came in. Each time I just had to pick her up for a minute and lay her back down and she was out again.

I'm not sure why she's doing this and also how I should be reacting. Should I be giving her more time to fall asleep on her own? I'm worried she's doing it more because she likes it when I come to hug her for a minute (major separation anxiety lately).

She's also been taking steps and has gotten fairly good but not consistently good yet. So maybe that's it? And she's 50 weeks old today which supposedly is the start of the 55th wonder week period.

Also, should I be laying her back down one more time in the morning until she sleeps until at least where she was getting to before? She put herself on a one nap schedule at 10.5 months and resists when I try to give her two but is tired from waking up so early and so often at night.

Any ideas on why this is happening and advice on what I should be doing?
