@MamaMoose: That's my concern, too. So I'm going to try to stay away from a lot of sugar from this point forward. I haven't had my GD test yet, but it's coming up soon, and the way my body is reacting to sugar is making me nervous. I can do a small piece of chocolate (like a Hershey's bliss) just fine, but it seems like anything bigger or with a higher sugar content kind of wacks me out. Guess it's better to just lay off the sugar and play it safe.

My body hasn't loved sugar since being pregnant. Anything with frosting on it makes me feel really jittery because of the sugar content. And while I can eat chocolate any sort of sugary candy like sweet tarts makes me feel really awful, and leaves a terrible taste in my mouth for hours. I was worried it could have been a sign of GD since my body seemed to be processing sugar differently, but I had my GD test last week and passed. I figure staying away from sugar during pregnancy isn't such a bad idea anyway so I don't worry about it much.

That's odd, I wouldn't think a decaf sugar-free would make you feel jittery! I haven't noticed a difference in how I process sugar. I had my first cup of coffee last weekend (I was beyond tired and ordered a short coffee and put tons of cream in it) but didn't really notice anything from that, either, other than being slightly more awake. Hope you figure it out soon!

Maybe because its decaf, rather than caffeine free. Because my doctore told me that deca isnt really good for you. Have your tried getting a coffee free beverage with equal amount of sugar to see if it really is the sugar or the coffee. Next time try their cream based frapuccinos that have no coffee in them and if you still feel jittery then you know its the sugar

Do you find that sugar affects you differently now that you're pregnant? I used to drink a 12oz coffee every morning before I got pregnant. When we started trying, I switched to decaf and then once I got pregnant, I stopped altogether. About a month ago, I had a cup of half-caf cuz I had a terrible migraine and caffeine always helped. It made me feel so wired and jittery that I thought I was going to throw up. I expected the caffeine to affect me, but not that much.

Last week, I stopped at Starbucks cuz I was craving a caramel macchiato. I got a decaf, sugar-free, soy. It still made me feel all jittery. I thought maybe it was a fluke. So this morning, I stopped again to try the salted caramel hot chocolate. I realize that there is some caffeine in hot chocolate, but it's generally pretty minimal. But I still feel jittery and a little short of breath! So now I'm thinking it might be the sugar?

Has anyone else experienced this?
