@Freckles: I actually just watched a really interesting documentary on Netflix last night called "Fed Up" about sugar in our food and its link to childhood obesity. They talked about how sugars in fruits are processed differently in our bodies than well, processed sugars. It was fascinating!! If you have Netflix, I highly recommend! That being said, I don't think a few servings of Cheerios will make all that big of a difference. I think if you always gave him sugary cereals, it could affect him though. The less the better really, but everyone is a little different so we all have a different threshold for what we can handle without adverse side effects.

How much does he actually eat? I don't know that amt he eats would be big enough to make a difference either... But I can certainly see how the sugar can keep him more hyper?? That or it's sleep regression :meh:

I don't think it would make a difference. We bought that cereal a lot (2 pack from Costco) and LO 2 didn't have nap issues around that age. I was more cautious about added sugar for LO 1 and she was a terrible napper the first 14 months of her life!

I normally give our 8.5 month old some (regular) cheerios in the morning, mainly to practice feeding himself while i get his breakfast ready. This morning DH got breakfast ready for both kids...i came downstairs and upon looking at LO2's tray carefully, i noticed that he didn't give him the regular cheerios, but the multi-grain cheerios he bought by accident. I was really annoyed since i told him when he bought them that they were sugar coated and i didn't want LO1 having them too frequently; what made him think they were okay for a baby?

Anyways, i find out he has been giving DS these cheerios for the last two weeks. He doesn't do breakfast all that often, but a part of me wonders if it's the added sugars that affects his naps on the mornings DH was in charge (yes, i know there is sugar in fruits, bread, etc.)? Thoughts?
