We just bought a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair today! I have been in love with the design for a long time and I really try to buy products that grow with my child. FWIW, he's almost 3. We had a clip on high chair before that he outgrew awhile back and we just got around to getting a real high chair. We plan on using it with baby 2, or buying her one when the time comes.

If you don't want to spend a lot, the Ikea one is great.

@maybebaby: whatever jumperoo/exercaucer you decide on, I would totally suggest buying used/craigslist. DS was cruising by 8 months and walking before he was 1. The money spent on these things for space we don't have was such a big regret. Oh well, haha ;)

We have the Oxo Sprout for us, but the Fisher Price Space Saver for my parents house and I would pick that over the Oxo Sprout. Unfortunately, we have bar stool chairs and couldn't get it for us.

We also went the jumperoo over exersaucer route.

I recently bought the Ikea Antilop and it's kind of tricky for my 5 month old to sit in it because she's small and needs a fair amount of support to sit up. It's not the low back that is the problem because her head control is good, but more that the back is so straight. I've used a rolled up blanket to get her positioned more comfortably and that seems OK. We're not feeding solids yet, and I think once she's sitting a little better it will be perfect.

We also just started using the baby einstein jumper with her and she loves it. Again, she's small so we pile some blankets underneath so her feet reach but it is like her favorite thing right now. She hasn't figured out the jumping yet but she likes all the activities on the tray.

Bumping this because these are the two items I'm going to tell people LO wants for Christmas. She will be almost 5 months old at the time so I figured they are good things to request.

We don't have an actual kitchen table, just stools at the island counter /breakfast bar. Like @maybebaby: space is at a premium in our little apartment, so it sounds like the jumparoo is better in terms of breaking down into smaller pieces for storage?

With the ikea antilope chair, can babies use it at 5 months? I thought something with a higher back would be more useful early on, but I guess she can't eat solids until she has great head control anyway?

We have the FP booster seat as well and have used it from. 6 to 22 months so far! So convenient and compact!

We got a jumperoo at a thrift store for $30 used it a ton for a few months and then resold it. The fabric cover comes off to wash so it is something I felt comfortable getting used and then reusing. I think it was a FP zoo themed one and it was great!

We have the Eddie Bauer high chair because I thought it would look better in our kitchen but it doesn't fold up and the back is straight up. No curve to the back so when LO was around 5-7 months it was hard for him to sit in. So look at that when buying one. We have the Neptune Baby Enistein saucer and he loves it.

I'm with @luckypenny We debated about a high chair and on a trip to ikea I just bought the $25 one. Let me tell you, there's no padding, so it's a breeze to clean. The legs can detach, which made it awesome for travel on holidays to other peoples houses. It has a tray, or it's the correct height to pull right up to the table. Our guy is 16 months now and loves sitting with us at the table, instead of off to the side. Probably the best baby purchase I made, truly.

Tripp Trapp and FP jungle jumperoo worked well for us. The jumperoo breaks down to smaller parts than the exersaucer.
The Tripp trapp lasts forever and doesn't look like a plastic factory lives in your dining room.

we also live in an apartment so i hear you on the space premium!

for a high chair, we have the fisher price healthy care booster seat:
http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Deluxe-Booster-Green/dp/B0000DEW8N

love that we can strap it onto one of our existing dining/kitchen chairs, instead of hauling in a new freestanding high chair and then having to find a place for the ousted kitchen/dining chair. i know it's not the cutest option out there, but definitely very space-saving.

as for exersaucer, we decided to forego. i saw a few in a store and knew that they would take up way too much space. we are just dealing with it. i think if we have a second baby it might be nice because we can't "switch off" watching LO, but until then we've refrained and i haven't regretted it. if you do get one, i hear that getting one used is best because they have a short usage period and are pricey if purchased new.

Ikea antilop - can't beat the price, it's light weight & easy to clean. We were gifted a baby einstein jumparoo. DD had fun with it - it was a convenient to put her so she didn't get into things...But really the life span was pretty short (3 months max) and then she was over it and it was taking up tons of space.

And our Exersaucer is an Evenflo one, but it was passed down to us, so I'm not sure which one it is or how much it costs.

We have this high chair and absolutely love it!! It also reclines back so you could put your LO in it now :) We do that, she't not eating yet, but sits in it while we eat!

And we love the jumperoo. Not an exersaucer, but I think it's better. It has the highest height limit so that was a huge factor for us as M is already 27 inches at 5 months.
