I have (and use) a ring sling, Ergo, Babyhawk, and Beco Butterfly II. My favorite is the Beco. It has a built in infant insert and the inside panel makes it really easy to do a back carry. I wear her on my back a lot around the house.

Oy! We have already acquired the Moby (gift), Ergo (hand-me-down) and Bjorn (hand-me-down) and of course this thread is making me think we should register for a K'tan. DH is 10 inches taller than me though so we may have to make do with the Moby for a while!

Keep in mind I haven't actually used these, but I've done a stupid amount of research already on what I want to get, based largely on things I've seen on here.

I'm planning on getting a K'tan for early on-- the moby looks too confusing, and even though DH and I are probably too different in size to share it, I think I'd be the primary wearer for the first few months anyway. I'm due in July so aware that it's going to be HOT-- the ergo insert would have us both sweating too much.

Later as the baby gets bigger, I plan to get the Beco Gemini-- it gets similar reviews to the Ergo (which I have tried out with my friend's baby and it was SO comfortable) but you have the option of the baby facing out in the front, which I hear a lot of babies go through phases where that's the only way they are happy. DH is excited to wear too, so the Beco I'll make sure we can both use.

With DD I used our Moby when she was tiny, our Ergo for when out and about for any length of time and a pouch sling once she was able to be carried on my hip (she refused to hold onto me so this helped support her weight and hold onto her).

With DS (4m) we used the Moby a couple of time but mainly the Ergo.

@amelieisme, thanks for the suggestion! I read some reviews and switched the moby off the registry and added the k'tan. It looks WAY easier! Plus they have the Breeze, which is a lighter one. Dh and I are the same size, so we can use the same carrier.

I am going to say I don't like the Baby Bjorn. It is really hard to use that once the baby gets to be about 15 lbs. The ones I use the most are the Ergo and the k'tan. Though I also enjoy my Moby.

I found the Ergo a pain in the behind to use when they are super tiny though, because you need this HUGE infant insert. When mine were super tiny I used the Moby the most (I didn't have the k'tan yet). I like the Moby because it felt really secure and there was one time I was out and my DD needed to nurse and I could and no one could see anything because she was in the Moby.

I used a ring sling all the time when Liv was small. Now that shes 18 months I use an Ergo when we're out and about. Its more structured and easier to carry her in as a toddler

Baby k'tan is my favorite. It's a cloth wrap like the Moby, but comes In two rings of fabric rather than one long piece so it's much easier to put on. It's comfortable and distributes weight to both shoulders. I had a Moby at first but got. K'tan and like it much more. I've worn it on walks, around the house, to the airport, etc.

I have an Ergo, but never use it. Just seems bulky when my cloth K'tan does the job. Maybe I'll use it more when LO is older (5 mo now)

I really liked using the moby around the house when my LO was younger/smaller. Out and about I think a soft-structured carrier would be better (e.g. Ergo, Beco, baby Bjorn).

We use the Baby Bjorn for short walks and the Pognae for longer trips.

I'd highly recommend visiting a store that carries a large variety and trying them on to see which you like best!

Have you looked at anything in person? Really there are all kinds of ways to baby wear and a lot of it depends on personal preference and the baby's preference.

A lot of people like slings because they are easy to slip on. Usually pretty cheap. My baby hated being that confined.

Some people like wraps (moby, etc) because they are a little more versitile than a sling (more positions). But for me its a pain to learn how to wrap a really long piece of fabric around you.

Some people like soft carries (ergo, etc) because they just clip on. These are the most expensive though.

What do you use? Do you like it? I'm wanting something I can use around the house (like so I could wash dishes or whatever and baby wear) and something that I can use out and about for shopping or other times when using the carrier isn't feasible.

Any suggestions?
