I used a maya wrap when DS was young and still not that heavy. When he got to be older, I used it so that he sat on my hip, but only for short amounts of time. It hurts your shoulder if they are heavy. I used an Ergo when he was older/toddler.

We bought one from tula and it was pricey but I love it... so easy once we used it a few times!

@sorrycharlie: Was it hard to learn how to use this? I was a disaster when it came to even trying the Moby wrap. But this will be an Aug. baby, and it's hot here then!

I just bought a mesh ring sling that you can use in the water as well as on dry land! Super lightweight, breathable and packable.

I got a regular linen ring sling from Sleeping Baby Productions and I like it a lot. I'm fairly busty too (like a DDD/F). I've only used it like ten times or so and it's already fairly broken in and soft. I just used it yesterday for my 19lb 7month old at a birthday party. I was comfortable holding her for probably over an hour and I have some serious back problems. I also live in California so it was warmish (in the 70s) and we were both fine. It took me a couple times to get used to using it. But there are also a ton of videos about getting a good seat and tightening properly that helped. But the first two times I used it I ended up very frustrated. But now I love it.

ah! I have two comfy joey ring slings that I have been wanting to get rid of. I loved them but now that my kids are bigger I only wear my toddler in the ergo.

I also second the Sakura Bloom. I have a single linen SB and it has been great, especially in the warmer months. I want to get a woven ring sling because I'm finding the linen a bit less comfy as she gets heavier. If you're anything like me, I had. Really hard time figuring out how to use it properly. I always felt like DD was going to fall out. If you have a baby wearing group near you, I recommend finding them and going to a meeting. Otherwise, this video was a game changer... I watched it once and it totally clicked for me!

Love maya wrap! The padded shoulder is comfy and the zip pocket is super convenient. I think it's easier to use than a Sakura bloom for a newbie ring sling user.

Thanks ladies! I'll look into those. I don't have a store near by to buy these so getting reviews before I make an online purchase is very helpful.

I have a Maya wrap that I used nonstop from when DD was a newborn until 6 months or so. I still use it periodically, but for longer outings, I prefer having her weight distributed on both shoulders.
ETA: I'm a 34H when nursing and was a 32F prebabies, for reference.

I have a Maya Wrap that I didn't start using till D was 9mo, but I freaking loved it for as long as I could handle the weight. Definitely plan to use it much much sooner with Babygirl!

I love love my tula ring sling. I have migaloo happy. It is very soft (after you wash it once) and very supportive (I wear my 22 lb toddler in it daily) while still not being hot.

I looooove my sakura bloom. I have the linen one and it's amazing. I'm super sweaty all the time, as is my baby, and we have zero issues with it! I actually prefer that it does not have a pocket, because I feel like putting things in a pocket would weigh me down. It's forced me to go lighter if need be ;) I cannot say enough good things about it..we've used it almost daily for the last five months since I bought it.

edit: my older daughter was 2y3m when my baby was born, and by the time she was 2.5 I realized that dealing with an Ergo and all the buckles (that my baby hated anyway..) was a pain. The ring sling had a learning curve but man is it easy/quick now.

I need suggestions for a great ring sling. I have a mei tai that I loved with my first for walks and for doing stuff around the house, but I found it was not useful for nursing on the go. This time around I think a ring sling would also be really good addition to my gear so I can tend to my oldest with a nursing babe in a sling. I'm big breasted, if that helps your suggestions.
Thanks!
