@BadgerMom: They are Zutano booties. They are the BEST - they are really easy to put on don't fall off! When it is really cold I layer them over socks. They aren't cheap (about $20) but they are totally worth it in my book.

@LBee: Today is the first day of the oatmeal and fenugreek regimen, so I'm not sure if it is working. But I hope so! The fenugreek definitely makes me smell weird and I had a job interview this morning...

@CakeLady: What kind of little booties is your LO wearing in his pic? I'm thinking we may need some if this cold weather persists, socks just aren't enough!

@BadgerMom: Hahaha!

@beckysue: We are still using the sleep suit at almost 5 months. He can rollover, but appears to have no interest in doing so when sleeping. I saw him startling a little on the monitor last night (even in his sleep suit) so he definitely still has the startle reflex. I'm hoping to wean off it at 6 months, but (personally) sleep > sleep suit weaning.

@CakeLady: Yay! I saw your other post about pumping and supply -- is the oatmeal helping?

@MK0180: He's adorable!

@beckysue: We've been using it since he was a little over 5 months, and are still using it 2 months later. LO was able to roll over in the Merlin after about a week of use. (Once he finally decided he could roll, he became quite determined.) They recommend that you stop using it once they can roll over in it, they say they don't need it anymore at that point anyway, but we tried ditching it and that failed miserably. We decided that since he could roll both ways, and lift his head while wearing the thing we were ok leaving him in it. Now he can even get on all fours with it and crawl/scoot around his crib. Anyway, that choice obviously is not for everyone, but it's working for us and we'll probably continue to use it until he out grows it.

@CakeLady: Thanks! :happy:

@BadgerMom: Your son is a cutie! Thanks for commiserating with me on our breastfeeding woes. I never knew mommy guilt was a real thing until I had my daughter. I also didn't realize that nursing strikes could happen. I was prepared with about 10 different types of bottles in case she refused (she took to the first brand I tried) but was totally unprepared for her to go on a nursing strike.

Another question for you, how long did you use the merlin sleep suit? I am thinking of ordering one for Ivy because she sleeps terrible if not swaddled but now that she is rolling more consistently I know we need to swaddle wean. Is she too old to bother with the sleep suit at 4 months?

@MK0180: Thanks! I am sorry you went through a nursing strike as well, it really is so so difficult.

Minor victory last night! After I gave DS a chunk of banana which made him cry, I gave him a break and then offered him some slices of pear and he did really well with it. :happy: He also seemed interested in a slice of bread I was eating, but he hasn't had wheat yet, so I decided to hold off.

@LBee BLW is going slow so far. We just started last week so I have only given him a couple of different foods. I don't think he has swallowed much, other then some pineapple which was a big surprise to him lol! The only prep I really did was talk to my doctor about it, and read different books/blogs. The doctor was not helpful at all, her response was "It's up to you, purees or BLW doesn't really make a difference"….

@beckysue: DS went on a nursing strike as well when I returned to work.I was supplementing with formula b/c I just couldn't keep up. My supply greatly diminished and over the course of a month I was down to pumping to 2oz in one session. It was very hard. I was thisclose to making my goal of 6 months.
I love your picture! What an adorable little girl you have!

Another boy to the summer of boys :)
Baby's Name or Initial: William
Birthday / Current Age: 7/04/14 - 6 months yesterday!
Stats: We weighed him a couple of weeks ago and he was pushing 17lbs... his 6 mos appt is Wed so we'll know for sure
Teeth: none yet but I do believe he's teething
Eat: I stopped breastfeeding a couple of weeks ago (pumping at work was getting harder and harder) so he's primarily formula-fed. We started purees a couple of weeks ago 1-2x a day. So far he likes pears.... and that's it :) sometimes sweet potato. Hates carrots and green beans - I think he has a sweet tooth...
Play: He is SO active - loves his excersaucer but also loves to be held and looks and grabs anything he can get his hands on! He also started to roll back to tummy.
Sleep: He sleeps pretty solidly from 8 - 3 and then I give him a bottle and he goes back down until 6 or so.
Recent Achievement: Rolling over!
How are YOU doing?: So far so good - going back to work after a break is always hard but being away from him all day for the first time in 2 weeks was especially hard!
Picture (if you want):

@beckysue: I'm right there with you regarding breastfeeding. LO was also EBF until I went back to work. I just couldn't keep up with his demand while he was at daycare. And he became so much more content after we started supplementing and giving bigger bottles, so looking back I think he was hungry even before that. I'm also not a big fan of the pump and I started to slack the longer I was back to work. Since then it's been the self fulfilling prophecy everyone warns breast-feeders of. The longer we've supplemented the lower my supply has gotten.

I know it doesn't matter and F is happy, healthy, and fed, but I still can't help but feel a little guilty. Maybe if I had just tried a little harder, pumped a little more, etc.

Oh well. Hugs to you and a high five for our happy, well fed babies :heart:

@swurlygurl: I'm also in the Midwest, not digging the weather today. I am glad DS is a hearty guy and a little bit older, I would be seriously concerned about leaving the house with a tiny newborn in these crazy low temps.

Baby's Name or Initial: Ivy

Birthday / Current Age: 8/25 - 4 months old

Stats: Not sure, 4 month appt is on 1/7 she seems to stay right on the 50th percentile curve so far though.

Teeth: 0 teeth, loves to chew on everything

Eat: 50% breastmilk 50% formula but we are slowly transitioning to all formula. She was EBF until I returned to work at 3 months. She broke my heart with a nursing strike when I returned to work and she has refused since then so I am slowly pump weaning. I give a lot of credit to all those exclusive pumpers out there, it just isn't for me but I still feel terribly guilty about this decision :sad:

Play: Loves all toys that crinkle as well as her exersaucer

Sleep: STTN (11-7) until 2 days ago and now nights are a fiasco. I am hoping this is just a temporary thing although I feel swaddle weaning is in our future and she just sleeps for crap without it.

Recent Achievement: Rolling both directions more consistently as well as working on putting toys in her mouth when she wants to.

How are YOU doing?: Overall I am doing great. I have quite a bit of weight to lose but I feel good in that I have started to work toward that goal now. I still feel very guilty about my decision to quit pumping but I think when I completely stop that will pass as well.

@LBee: Haha! I actually have always wanted 4 girls (but we're stopping at 3) so I'm hoping for another girl too! Although a boy would be wonderful as well - I know DH would really like a son.

@CakeLady: Oh man - that was vacation! We're in the Midwest and suffering through awful (snowy) weather as well. We escaped to San Diego for 2 weeks over Christmas :) It was SO hot one day we had to leave the beach because DH and I were both sweating too much... :P

@Mamasig: Agh, we're crazyyyy! L and K are 19 months apart, which I like, but I'm ready to be done and get my body back!

@Pancakes: Hah, yes, sooo ready to be done. I'm not really a 'baby person'. I much prefer toddlers... I feel horrible saying it, but maybe it's just because I don't have cuddly babies, so I don't get to enjoy the best part of babyhood :P

@CakeLady: I'm definitely a crazy person... I've always known I wanted a lot of kids. I started out wanting 4, but we've whittled it down to 3. As I mentioned above, I'm not much of a 'baby person', so I really want to hurry up and have my babies and move on to the fun stuff with toddlers and big kids :)

@LBee: My husband was sooo ready to start sleep training that he was easy to convince. I may have exaggerated just a little how much the crying bothers me (which is kind of a moot point because J doesn't actually even cry that much). J is also a total boob monster so I think my husband realized that the checks would be easier if the food wasn't there too.

@regberadaisy: @psw27: @cakelady: J is the same with the refusal to roll. He has rolled tummy to back a bunch of times (and started doing it pretty early - he did it on the table at a ped appointment at 9 weeks old) but acts like he can't be bothered to do it about 95% of the time.

@littlebit: We used the Merlin suit for the transition out of the swaddle for about a month. When we started sleep training, we moved to the sleep sack at the same time and it hasn't been too much of a shitshow. He was going through the 4m regression right before we started sleep training though, so his sleep was crap anyway and we had nothing to lose. The plus side is he sucks his thumb/cuddles his lovey now during the night and is able to get himself back to sleep reasonably well with those strategies.

@CakeLady: I'm a total worrywart too. J is a pretty fickle eater - a combination of not loving bottles (and I WOH), reflux, and just being generally distracted while eating right now. The usual advice that "he'll eat when he's hungry" is so frustrating because that's not always true, or he'll just eat when he's sleepy, aka the middle of the night, so I can't sleep. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone!

Birthday / Current Age: 8/3 5 months!!

Stats: at his 4 month appt he was about 14lb9oz. i'm guessing now he's close to 15.5-16lb!

Teeth: 0! not much drool either so i don't expect any soon

Eat: about 28oz of formula. starting solids in a couple weeks!!

Play: Loves playing with his jumperoo and trying hard to hold onto toys and put them in his mouth. he loves looking at people the most tho and will give anyone a big gummy smile

Sleep: awesome night sleeper (11 hours) not a great napper. 2 - 30min cat naps and 1 1.5 hour nap usually.

Recent Achievement: rolling both ways, wants to sit up all the time and can usually sit for a couple seconds before toppling over, reaching and putting toys in his mouth, playing with toys

@CakeLady: @BadgerMom: I am sooo super lax about tummy time! LOL but she's had great head control from day one so I'm not worried. ;)

@Pancakes: and @regberadaisy: That is so funny with the rolling. LO did the same thing. I kept thinking something was wrong. Luckily my reasonable side kept telling me to wait, and sure enough he started consistently rolling back to tummy a month or so later, and then finally rolled tummy to back again a while after that.

Baby's Name or Initial: C
Birthday / Current Age: Sept. 15, almost 4 months!
Stats: We were at the doctor last week--12 lb 14 oz, 24 inches. Long and lean!
Teeth: Nope
Eat: I SAHM and she BF every 3-ish hours.
Play:She got a Lamaze moose toy this weekend that she really seems to like. She's starting to grab at more toys on her play mat.
Sleep: Hahahahahah sleep. What sleep? Her crib naps have gotten better, but night sleep is not great. She goes down for the night between 10-11 and then she's usually up at 3-4 and then again between 7-8. I'd reeeeally like her to go to bed earlier. Mama is tired!
Recent Achievement: Rolled tummy to back 3 times on the day she turned 3 months old, and then I think she's done it once since.
How are YOU doing?: So so so tired. Really tired. But good otherwise. Love my two girls!

@regberadaisy: E rolled three times one evening - both tummy to back and back to tummy - and then didn't donit again for about a month. Now he does tummy to back all the time - to put an end to tummy time I think! :silly:

@LBee: To be honest, I haven't been very consistent. I've tried a handful of times with a couple different cups we were given as gifts and he didn't really even attempt any of them. If I give him control it gets thrown directly on the floor and if I try and hold it for him he gives me terrible scowl like, "what the heck are you shoving this thing in my mouth for?!"

I think I just need to be patient and keep trying but lower pressure?

@Meagan2014: @BadgerMom: @CakeLady: Adorable babies!!

@BadgerMom: So many summer boys!

@Meagan2014: How are you liking BLW so far? Did you do anything to prep?

@regberadaisy: That's so funny about A not rolling after she did it once... T was doing it for like a month straight and now suddenly he acts like he no longer knows how to do it. He will cry when he gets sick of tummy time when before he'd just flip over. Babies are so crazy.

@BadgerMom: When did he start the sippy cup? Love your description of his crawling!

@BadgerMom: we used a real soft spot one for DS1 so it was easy to get the water out but it was a mess. I just kept giving it to him and he got it over time. There is a nuby one that has a nipple on it but then you can switch it out to a spout. It got him used to something different than a bottle. Eventually, we went to a straw sippy. He was maybe 10-11 months. He figured that out quick when we put a fruit smoothie in it.

Baby's Name or Initial: Max

Birthday / Current Age: 6 months

Stats: He was almost 18 lbs last time I had him weighted

Teeth: No yet but has been a drooling machine

Eat: Breastfeed, just starting Baby Led Weaning

Play:Loves to jump, or walk around looking at everything!

Sleep: He has been able to fall asleep on his own for a couple of months now. Still wakes 2-3 times at night to eat but goes back to sleep right after. Depending on when he wakes up he will do 2 or 3 naps, usually 1.5-2hrs long. So really no complaints!!

Recent Achievement: Just before Christmas he figured out how to roll from his belly to his back.

How are YOU doing?: It has definitely been a hard adjustment going from full-time employment to stay at home mom. Finally feeling like this is the new normal!

Picture (if you want): Our Christmas pic :)

@BadgerMom: that's awesome! I can't wait to start with A. :)

What kind of sippy do you use? We went straight to a straw cup with DD 1. I think it took her a week or two to get the hang of it? We also started open cups pretty pretty early on as w. ell. I
