I forgot about Koolknit (I think that's what it's called-- I'm used to seeing the abbreviation). Kinderpack makes carriers with a ventilation panel made out of it. They are really comfy in the summer. Kinderpacks aren't cheap, though, so I don't know if that's a realistic option.

I remember seeing something that looked a lot like the Ergo, but it's actually the Pognae: http://www.pognaeusa.com/

It can be unzipped to reveal a mesh area for air flow. No idea if it works, but it looked interesting to me!

@anandam: I used a black moby all last summer. We both did get pretty hot and sweaty, but it was the only way she would sleep for a while so I just dealt with it and it didn't seem to bother her. She was usually in just a onesie and I wore very light thin clothes (workout type shirts are good though probably I jut wore nursing tanks since it was all that fit.) I got c a cute little hat with a brim to keep the sun off her head. I have heard the ergo gets particularly warm, doubly so with the infant insert.

we used a boba 3g and never had an issue making sure she had air flow, not too hot, etc. for one that little, i would look into a ring sling!

I've heard lots of good things about using these Frog Toggs with SSCs (you could probably use them with the K'tan/Boba if you are being careful). They help cool but don't feel actively wet to the touch. You would need to be careful and make sure you can see baby has a nice clear airway, but if you are following the TICKS guidelines (www.schoolofbabywearing.com/Images/TICKS.pdf) you should be just fine. Carriers can definitely get hot in the summer!

We got a few carriers (Ergo, K'tan, Boba wrap) as gifts and hand-me-downs, but now that baby is born and summer is starting to blaze, I'm realizing we overheat very quickly in all of them and it is not relaxing for either of us.

Is there a better summer carrier option?
Baby is currently around 14lbs, almost a month old.
