I don't wear dresses when I'm out with my LO but I will to work. I lock my door to pump and will pull my dress all the way up. I feel silly standing there in my underwear but at least I get to wear a dress every once in a while!

@Smurfette: I feel you, girl. I really do. I LIVE in dresses. Now that I'm pumping only once at work I'm back to wearing dresses and I just pull them all the way up. So awkward but I just cannot live in this warm weather in pants or skirts. I can't wear cross-front or button-down dresses because the size of my boobs.

I do have a few sundresses that I wear at home and on the weekends that work for me. They're kind of a stretch jersey material, and they're tank style with an empire waist. When it's time to pump I just pull the straps off my shoulders and pull the top of the dress down around my waist. I think I am finally ready to retire my nursing bras because I have switched to coobie bras and I just pull them up. (I didn't do that before because I was afraid of clogged ducts from the pressure around the tops of my boobs while it was pulled up.)

Anyway. I feel you. Look for some sundresses made of stretch jersey? I found mine at TJ Maxx.

what about sleeveless/tube top type dresses? I wear these all the time in the summer and you just have to pull them down to nurse.

@MamaMoose: So it will hold the shape during the day? I haven't tried any cause I think they would just get all stretched out and I don't want to be hanging out.

@photojane: Shirt dresses never work on my body type :( Shame cause I think they are so cute.

@sarahbee: That is really cute. I will have to check out ON.

@Smurfette: I got a black jersey maternity/nursing-friendly dress from Target while pregnant & I still wear it... and I'm not even nursing! It definitely doesn't look maternity. Shirt dresses would work too!

I'm a big fan of skirts and tank tops, too, which is more nursing friendly and for me, more thigh friendly than shorts! That's what I plan to wear after LO is born at the end of July (well once i get out of pajamas and nursing tanks and make it out of the house).

I don't know if it's because I had a large chest to begin with, but pretty much everything I wear is nursing friendly! I can't imagine having to buy new clothes for nursing, or having to temporarily retire part of my wardrobe! :(

Hopefully you can find some cute (not obv maternity/nursing style) dresses to wear - it will be such a bummer to go without alllll summer!

@photojane: All the ones I have seen that are nursing friendly look like maternity. I haven't even tried them on cause they look like they would make me look pregnant. And really I don't need to call any attention to my belly right now.
@MamaMoose: Don't they get all stretch out? I have tank tops that are jersey and they are so stretched out from nursing.

I made do with dresses that buttoned to the waist or had a cross over top!
Most dresses are a giant pain in the ass for breastfeeding. I was never a fan of "pulling down the top" - uh, no, it just gets stretched out and makes the neckline look crappy. At least for me it did.
But I had great success with some affordable dresses from ON that had buttons or crossover tops. :)

Summer dresses,

I am going to miss you this summer. You see, you just aren't accessible for breastfeeding, reguardless of your style. I don't see how they are going to work. Unfortunately, breastfeeding my beautiful girl, outweighs looking cute.

I will miss you hiding my thighs, who will suffer in shorts, on those hot summer days. I will get by at work with skirts and pants, but it won't be the same.

I hope that next spring and summer we can continue our love affair. And it will be even better cause I will have lost baby weight and then some, so I will be able to buy all new dress.

Until then take care and continue to look so pretty hanging in my closet and the racks at store.

XOXO
Smurfette

PS. I will make sure to put R in as many dresses as I can to make up for you feeling neglected this summer.
