Hmmm. I guess we could try it, after all the one we are looking at is only $20. I really want to baby wear but know that with the summer it might be a little bit uncomfy! I guess only time will tell.

DS was an end of march baby and we used the ergo insert. It gets pretty warm here and he was ok. I was always a sweaty mess when I took it off but sometimes that was the only way I could get him to nap. We tried the money but it was just way too much fabric and too hot.

We used the ergo inserts like every day in july aug sept for our twins. Kids were warm but never overheated, but we were never out more than maybe 2 hours since they were brand new. BUT we live in Seattle-ish where summer is pretty mild. In humidity, you probably won't be comfortable. Although babywearing in the summer is kind of sweaty business no matter how you slice it :)

@Foodnerd81: I too want the Baby k'tan breeze!

I was also looking at the Manduca as it's very similar to the Ergo but doesn't need a newborn insert ( which where I'm going to live will be waaaaay too hot for our baby!)

The infant insert was too hot for winter for us! I hated my ergo until he was big enough to use it without the insert. I used the moby a lot but didn't love it. In hindsight I wish I'd got the beco Gemini and skipped the ergo and moby. It's as comfortable as the ergo but no insert and the baby can face outward if you want.

@maybebaby: I'm due at the end of July, so I haven't done this yet but I'm planning on getting a Baby K'tan wrap and a regular carrier (Beco Gemini). I figure in the beginning I'm going to want the baby wrapped up on me anyway. I might get the 'breeze' though, since it will be August in Boston when I'm using it.

The Beco Gemini also doesn't require an insert for infants, but I don't exactly know how it works.

@gracecat: We used Loveyduds which is woven wrap made from a very light cotton suitable for summer wear :)

We have both as well. I think you will find the moby is really much too warm for late spring and summer. We are in cold wonter weather and find it is just right and sometimes a bit too warm for indoors!

At first we started with the moby and find it has much better head support for an infant. The ergo is better now she has more neck control but she still is comfortable in both. the ergo infant insert includes the comforter looking thing but also a removable cushion on the bottom. We only use the removable little cushion which baby sits on since she is still too small to be comfortable otherwise. But you could just use an aden and anais blanket rolled up and folded over instead. So infant insert is not a necessary purchase.

Also found the ergo is sooooooo much more comfortable on my back ans shoulders than the moby.

We used our woven wrap during the summer until Lala was big enough for Ergo without the insert. The woven wrap is awesome until 15 or so lbs.

M. was born in winter so we were very pleased to use the insert!

We are registered for a moby wrap and an Ergo. Is it worth getting in the infant insert? Baby is due late May in Boston. It gets hot. The insert looks like a comforter, and I wonder if we should just Moby it until baby is big enough for Ergo. Would love people's thoughts!
