@Mrs. Jacks: when I took DS in the other day, he was 13.5 pounds... at 3 months!

We just started using the large Swaddlemes with DS. Before that, I would double wrap him in both a Swaddleme and an A&A blanket, or a small Swaddleme and then the large size on top. I also left our window open all night so he wouldn't overheat.

Yeah my LO slips her hands out the bottom too. I like the halo sleep sack swaddled better.

We had lots of issues with those. They are great when they fit.... but they need a medium size! We ended up buying some larges and shrinking them so they'd fit better.

When we went up a size in the swaddleme, LO busted his arms out easily (under the velcro part not thru the top), so it was as if he was in between sizes. Like @brownie suggested, we wrapped his arms up with a blanket (a+a) and then put in him in the swaddleme. You can google 'escape proof swaddle.'

Good to know the large is ginormous - DS certainly is not! I do find that if I swaddle SUPER tight it's better but his arms are at juuust the right length where they meet the holes - in another few weeks I'm sure they will be longer than the holes so perhaps less able to bust out.

We used a size large from month 4 - almost 6 and we had a biiig baby, so yeah, not for peanut yet!

I recommend two things: the miracle blanket, or a double swaddle with an AA blanket and then the swaddle me.

The large is ginormous, I agree. We did use it, but not with as much success as the small and newborn ones. My son liked the whole thing tight, including around his feet and legs.

Is there anyway to alter the small/medium to
make the arm holes smaller? I know for our LO my mom was able to make some adjustments so it would fit our son who is a preemie.

We did a modified miracle blanket by using a small folded receiving blanket to hold the arms by the side and then we used the swaddler.

Our 4 month old 14 lb (yeah) baby is still wearing the smalls. If you wrap the arms super tight they won't bust out.

My LO is 11 weeks now and I switched to the large size when he was about 8 or 9 weeks old. It is quite large so it depends on how big your baby is. Also, I found that if I don't have the swaddle over his shoulders he will break out of it. Or if I don't swaddle him tight enough.

The size large ones are *enormous*, so your baby will probably have way too much wiggle room in those ones. We also have the same problem with the holes where baby can slip her hands out. We try to tuck her hands down into the bottom part of the blanket (the part that holds her legs), and then we swaddle with the velcro tabs over that. It usually contains her hands pretty well... at least for the first part of the night.

So, the Summer Infant Velcro swaddles have worked pretty well for us until this point. LO is 5.5 weeks (but shy of 8 lbs) and now is able to slip his hands through the holes/gaps and bust out, which I think wakes himself up/makes it more difficult for him to fall asleep because he tries to play houdini for a while before sleep. He's wearing the size S/M and they fit everywhere else and technically with the weight allocation should still be able to wear it. But, wondering if we should move up to size L so he won't be able to bust out?

If you used these swaddles did your LO ever use a size L?

Here's the swaddle: http://www.diapers.com/p/summer-infant-kiddopotomus-swaddle-me-cotton-knit-21431
