@charlotte: I'm in a similar boat as you! 1st baby was a March baby. I gained 19lbs. Currently 34 weeks and already at 19lbs (but holding steady - it's been 19lbs almost a month). I'm definitely carrying bigger, despite eating less (no appetite) and chasing after a very active toddler. I had a BIG spike in weight gain during our baby moon, where all I ate was fruits and juices. The OB told me that fruits and juices don't metabolize as well and turn into excess weight gain. I have to curb myself from too much watermelon and juices constantly if I don't want to gain too much.

it sounds like summer probably has little to do with it and every pregnancy really is different! I have been hungrier this time too and had way less heartburn (yay) so maybe my intake is a bit more than I remember with LO1. There's def something about chasing a toddler that makes me need a snack...ha. I'll report back in 3 weeks if there are any interesting developments like 12 pound baby. :silly:

My first was born in March (two weeks late, even), & I gained right around 25lbs. This kiddo is due at the end of September, and I'm up 20lbs at 34wks. Comparing the week-to-week gain between the two pregnancies, I'm 2-4 weeks ahead of my progress last time, but my midwives aren't overly concerned as they see many/most subsequent pregnancies gaining a little more than the first.

I gained 28lb and delivered at 37w5d with my daughter in November. I gained 32lb and delivers at 38w with my son in August. They weighed 6lb7oz and 6lb6oz. I def think I ate more the second time around. I felt like I was always hungry!

I had a nov baby and gained right around 30lbs.
Due in October, 32.5 weeks and am up 18lbs so far. My weight gain has seemed to slow down the last few weeks so we'll see where I end up, guessing around 25-30lbs.

I gained a lot more with my May baby than with my early September baby. He was bigger but that doesn't account for even the majority of the extra weight! With my May baby being pregnant through Christmas and the ridiculous amount of Christmas cookies I ate combined with being trapped inside for a long winter was the big reason I gained more. Being very pregnant during the summer I was a lot more active and too hot to overeat! Plus the nausea and vomiting all winter kept that weight gain at bay. I do think if you swell a lot it would be a completely different story.

Yes - I gained about 10 pounds more with my September baby than my May baby. But I was way more swollen with my 1st (September baby) and I was diagnosed with GD with my 2nd (may baby) so I did watch what I ate and he came about 2 weeks earlier.

I had a Nov baby at 41w 3d and gained 25..
I just had an August baby on my due date and gained 26 (also started from lower weight). I didn't swell, but maybe more ice cream than with DS1?

@Rainbow Sprinkles: that sounds exactly like me. It is so annoying! I remember eating a ton of frozen yogurt and treats at the end last time and I'm not even doing that this time. I feel / hope like it has to be somewhat due to water retention.

I'm due next month with my third and have received a ton of crap from my OB about my weight gain (as she's mostly worried about baby's size). I gained 29 with my first (May baby) and 26 with my second (November baby) but was already up 24 lbs at 30 weeks with my third (first summer baby). My doc even said "I wouldn't even be mad if you lost weight" (which I did). I'm definitely more active this time around too. Not really sure why I'm gaining more! Maybe gaining more during summer pregnancies is a "thing." :) I'm sure it will come off quickly--let your body do its thang!

I had a Nov baby at 40w3d and gained 40. Baby was 8.11.
I had a July baby at 38w and gained 33. Baby was 8 lbs.

I was more active and ate less this time around and still was pretty much the same. Started off a lil less and gained a lil less. But didn't make a huge difference w overall weight gain or baby birth wt!

Moms of 2+: Did you gain more with a summer baby vs non (or if you've only had 1: more than made sense for your activity level and eating?)

I'm 35 weeks and already at the total gain I had with my 1st (a March baby). This makes no sense to me because I'm eating the same and probably more active (chasing a toddler around and doing tons of things around the house and errands everyday vs desk job with #1). I'm not noticeably swollen but I might be a little puffy in the face and feet.

There's nothing I can really do unless I changed from snacking on apples and cheese to plain kale (ha, not happening) so it's obviously not a HUGE deal. Just curious ! Maybe little sister is going to be bigger than her 8 lb brother!?
