I bought this tankini from motherhood - I must say i love the bottoms their just plain black but they fit nicely, no wedgie and they come up high enough in back so no crack. I havent worn a "full" bathing suit since i was a kid and i considered rocking a bikini but none of my tops fit my new rack so i splurged on this one. Definitely felt more comfortable on the public beaches

I bought a two-piece. I just haven't been in the water yet lol I have stretchmarks but I don't care at this point, it is what it is and they'll probably be there after I have the baby so screw it

I got a tankini since that's what I wear anyway. I have the black and white polka dot destination maternity one someone posted above.

I'm 39 weeks pregnant though, so wanting to keep that under wraps. But I think if you're only so far along and happy with your body you should totally rock the bikini.

@wahine08: Dude, I could write you a novel on pregnancy body acne... It's been so freaking awful. My face has actually been fine, but my chest and back are unbelievable. It started right after my BFP and at 26 weeks, really hasn't let up.

I've stuck with my black one-piece so far (for the like, 2 times I've actually been in the lake up north this summer!) and I've luckily only had to be around family so no one else was subjected to my zits... :/ Good luck!

An update on this:

I am now 16wks and my lovely pregnancy acne has traveled not only down to my chest and back but also some random bumps on my belly! Is this normal with any of you ladies?? Looks like I'll be looking into tankini's and QUICK- First pool/beach vacay is in 2 weeks!

I also forgot about my belly button scar from a laproscopic surgery last Dec. Not looking too cute stretched out. Dang olive skin tone!

Anyone buy a maternity suit recently? I'm now on the hunt!

I'm due in August and plan on doing a tankini set if I can find something. I really will likely swim only a couple of times. I don't have any stretch marks and my pregnant belly isn't too scary, but my linea nigra is pretty dark and kinda bugs me :(

I would never wear a bikini anyways, but there is just no way my third trimester bump is going commando at the beach. But for you, since you are normally comfy in bikinis and kind of seem to want to do it, I'd say go ahead!

I was 34 weeks pregnant on our beach trip last summer. I brought a tankini but ended up rolling it up most of the time (it was a non-maternity tankini, so it was too short on my belly). If I could do it over again I would have just brought a bikini...the rolled up bit did sort of weird things to my boobular area.

@Pepper: Love that suit and you look sooooo cute!

I rocked the bikini for a while -- i didn't at the very end since it was late october, but around 7/8 months I did - and my regular suits fit --- my boobs didn't get bigger until later - even though the top was a little tighter than pre-preg.... the last couple of months I don't think the suit would have fit as well, i think i have a pic since i posted it once before....

I said tankini, but it was really a one-piece. I was pregnant May - January, so I wasn't HUGE in the summer, but that early pregnant bloat killed my bikini! And now, I need to plan my bikini's retirement/funeral. Never again...

I totally rocked a bikini! Except I had LO in February so bikini season also coincided with the awkward bloated / not-quite-popped stage of pregnancy. Either way, I wore one and felt great! I wear a bikini now even though I'm not super pleased with my body these days.

I got a tankini, I'm 24 weeks and look pregnant, but for some reason in a bikini I just look like I have a big tummy, not pregnant, so not real flattering. Also I'm pretty white and veiny, so yeah just not a super great look for me. Maybe when I get farther along/ bigger I might do a bikini. Honestly my thighs and rear are a way bigger issue confidence wise during pregnancy than my tummy.

Oh gawd, I was so excited to NOT have to wear a bikini this year! I bought myself a one-piece suit ASAP! Granted, I never loved wearing bikinis before I was pregnant, so that definitely played into it! I'd also choose a one-piece over a tankini any day...

I'm on the fence, but I don't often wear a bathing suit either way. One thing I will say, though, early on-- like under 20 weeks, I felt like I didn't look obviously pregnant in a bathing suit-- it easily could have been 'I'm on vacation and drank too much beer and ate too much buffet!' So at that point, I would have been really uncomfortable in a bikini. I'm 32 weeks now and would be fine with a bikini I think-- there is no mistaking that this is a pregnant belly, and I haven't gotten any stretch marks and my belly is pretty tight, much tighter than non preg, for that matter. However, I can't seem to find my bikini top, so I'll probably be wearing the maternity tankini top my friend loaned me. I have one pair of bottoms that still fit, since I've pretty much only gained belly.

I would have rocked the bikini once I was noticably pregnant, but worn a tankini until I popped because I felt like I just looked chubby for a long time. But we didn't go anywhere beachy while I was KU, maybe next time!

I got a tankini so that I could cover the bump when it's too sunny, and so that I could kind of grow into it. You can also fold it up to get some sun. I was a bit nervous about wearing bikini bottoms more so than the top because my pant size went up in the 3rd trimester. So the tankini covered any potential problems along my hips. -- my old bikinis just weren't fitting right!

I got an Old Navy one. It fits nicely! This is what I looked like at 30 weeks in it.
