Just spent all weekend camping with one of those days at the lake. I wore a sassy one piece instead of my usual bikini, wore a floppy hat, and reapplied sunscreen every hour or so. My legs and feet got burnt but that was it. I never usually burrn there, so that was kind of weird. Oh and lots of water drank throughout the day! And I left early even though my friends werent quite done.

I don't sun bathe ever. My grandma had skin cancer so it really freaks me out. But especially while pregnant I get dehydrated easily, so I'd try to stay out of the sun extra.

I didn't, but only because one of my co-workers did and afterwards, had melasma (it made her look like she had a mustache). I figured I've already got a line from my sternum to my crotch to deal with, I don't want a brown mustache too!

@MamaMoose: That's funny, I seem to have had the opposite reaction. I spent all day at an outdoor wedding the other day and didn't even get rosy! Very unusual considering I have pale skin and haven't been outside much lately.

Also, wearing sunscreen almost completely eradicates your body's ability to create/absorb vitamin D, so some non-SPFed sun time is a good idea. :)

I love sunbathing and like others said, I think staying hydrated and using sunscreen is fine. Also, like everything else in the pregnancy world, in moderation is probably best.

Just stay hydrated and try not to get burned--so pretty much, use common sense :) I've also heard that pregnancy can cause melasma--basically a darker pigmentation on the face when exposed to sun. So just something to be aware of --maybe wear a hat and sunglasses!

I don't love to lay out, but I love to lounge in the pool. I was pregnant last summer (one of Texas' hottest summers). I spent a fair amount of time in our pool. That was one of the comments the nurses and anesthesiologist made at my delivery that I spent the pregnancy working on my tan.

I tan easily and the pool was very refreshing to my extremely bloated ankles and feet.

Yay for sunbathing!! I haven't had the chance to really spend a lot of time doing so but you're going to have such a great summer during the best part of your pregnancy! Enjoy it and enjoy the pool!! I think the most important thing is to stay hydrated.

I have been one to rock the bikini! We went to Las Vegas when I was 24 weeks for a work trip and my husband came along - we went to the pool one afternoon and it was great! I drank lots of water and wore sunscreen! Would sit in the sun again for longer without a doubt! Have fun!

I'm all about getting some Vitamin D and human photosynthesis but make sure you're TOTALLY SPFd up the wazoo! Lots of water! Get some shade, too!

Definitely pile on the SPF. I have noticed I'm much more sensitive to the sun since getting pregnant. Especially in the cleavage area. I stick to the shade as much as possible and drink lots of water when I'm outside. (I'm in Nashville so it's already in the 90s here most days)

Sunshine is so good for you! It's the absolutely best way of getting vitamin D. When I went to the beach a few weeks ago, my grandmother and I went for several walks on the beach, and I didn't wear sunscreen or anything. Just spend enough time in the sunshine to get the benefits without getting burnt! :)

We went to Mexico when I was 28 weeks. All I wanted to do was sit on a beach with a fruity drink in hand. I sat in the shade and applied a lot of sunscreen, but I also snorkled, hiked and did other activities in the sun!

Have fun!

I love the sun. However, I've been extra careful throughout pregnancy thus far (just past 15 wks)...

We'll be heading to FL tomorrow, I've packed my SPF30, glasses, hat... but I also want to lay in the sun too... I LOVE SUNBATHING.

What's your rule on this during pregnancy?

I plan on keeping myself hydrated and cool by jumping in the pool every chance I get!
