I've had conversations with several physicians and eye doctors about this and they basically all agreed that developing eyes need to be exposed to sunlight, and probably more of it than what most children are getting. That said, we have year-round sun and are out in it a lot, so I bought LO a pair of polarized sunglasses. He wears them regularly, but not all the time.

Mine won't go outside without them. She sometimes wants them inside when the sun shines too directly through the windows. "my eyes! my eyes!" she's a bit dramatic. We love sun cloud (on amazon) they have polarized ones in small sizes.

It's hit and miss with DS. I wish he wore them more consistently though. Those rays can be damaging. Mommy has really bad eyes already which he'll inherit so no need to make things worse!

D wears sunglasses pretty much every time we go outside. I bought them at Carter's, so I'm sure they're not super UV-blocking, but I figure they help a little. Since he wears them so much I should invest in a better pair for him. I have super sensitive eyes, and bright sunlight is a migraine trigger for me, so I wear mine constantly and just automatically have been putting them on him. Now he asks for them whenever we go out and it's bright out.

My LO likes to wear sunglasses when I do, so we have a couple pairs of babiators because they actually stay on her face.

Do your kids wear sunglasses on bright days? Mine usually don't, but I've been reading up on ultraviolet radiation and am going to get a few extra pairs for the kids before we go on our trip next week. I didn't fully realize how damaging UV rays could be on kids' eyes!
