Our doctor said we could at 3 months. We use aveeno, and just make sure to wash it off with a bath that night.

My pediatrician recommended California Baby for under 6 months, but I'd check with yours. That stuff is so expensive, I couldn't pay over $20 for that tiny tube!

Most of the time we use long sleeved white onesies or swim shirts, hats, and a damp A&A blanket to keep the worst of it off of him.

In a pinch I have used some of my sensitive skin face sunscreen when my boy was 3 months and he did just fine.

I plan on using Adorable Baby sunscreen for my baby girl too. We currently use Loving Naturals sunscreen for my son (both are the same company) and I feel comfortable using this brand on my children because the sunscreen is non-nano, non micronized. It's a bit expensive but it's definitely worth it to keep the kiddos safe and protected from the sun.

I didn't use sunscreen on my LO 'til she was 6 months but I did buy a light UV blanket that I used to cover her in the stroller, etc. This one is inexpensive and works great: http://www.amazon.com/Protective-Shade-Solaroo-Sunfree-blocking/dp/B000THPUE0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1336416622&sr=8-3

@Minnie_Girl: Thanks for the links. My LO and I are currently on the GAPS diet and it looks like Mommypotamus follows a lot of the same food principles. Also, that DIY sunscreen looks intriguing although I'm sure I'm just going to buy this one that she recommended 'cause I'm lazy, lol

I just read a great series of posts about healthy sun exposure and sunscreen on the Mommypotamus blog! I'd recommend reading the series (and following the blog, this lady knows her stuff).

The last post includes her recommendation for pre-made sunscreen. She doesn't recommend California Baby because they recently changed their formula and it has lots of yucky stuff in it now.

I believe AAP has changed their recommendation for sunscreen for babies younger than 6 months old. It's been pretty sunny/hot where I live and I worry about my LO's exposure to the sun. I've heard high raves about California Baby but are they okay for babies younger than 6 months? What other brands are there? Have you used sunscreen on your LO younger than 6 months?
