@Red: That's interesting stuff, the laundry detergent additive. I'd love to hear your experience with it, so please come back and update us.

BTW, if you're going somewhere really hot, you may also want to pack some powdered pedialyte in case your LO gets dehydrated.

LO has really sensitive skin and we use Oil of Olay Sensitive face lotion with SPF 15 on her body for normal days and Neutrogena Pure & Free Sunblock SPF 60 for extreme sun exposure.

We're taking a cruise to the Caribbeans with LO soon and I just ordered some SPF clothing laundry wash in addition to her regular sunblock regiment. It's supposed to increase the SPF in clothing to at least 30. It's got good reviews so hopefully is helps cause I hate slathering on so much sunblock on her.

We have Aveeno Baby.

We asked the doctor at her 2 month apt. if sunscreen was ok and he said yes, just get something natural and make sure to give her a bath that night to wash it off.

I got a mineral based one from the pharmacy this past summer. I didn't want to start using chemical based ones if I didn't have to, but having said that, we really limited his time in the sun. rash guard and hat, sitting under an umbrella, huge Protect-a-bub sun cover for the stroller.

I was worried about this too and forget what kind I ended up getting but went off of this website http://breakingnews.ewg.org/2011sunscreen/best-sunscreens/best-beach-sport-sunscreens/
It's probably good to have around but since it's a sunblock it leaves a whitish tint behind on the baby. I think the best we did was keep a wide brim hat on her and out of direct sun.
If we were going to be out in the sun all day the sunblock was probably a good idea but with a newborn we didn't get to that point.

Those are the exact two that we use. Most of the time we use California baby (sunblock not sunscreen), but sometimes we find that Whole Foods is out. In those cases we use Think Baby (and I actually like the smell of it a little better)

Do you have a tried and true sunscreen for your LO? We're
Going on our 1st family vacation and hopefully the sun will
Be out all the time
But I want to make sure she's protected!

I've heard good things about California baby and thinkbaby! Any recommendations
