Think baby. Despite being a bit more expensive I think one tube lasted most of the summer for one LO.

For the kids I have liked Blue Lizard (forget which one specifically), Alba botanicals, and Think Baby. I probably like think baby best but it's more expensive.

I usually use Alba botanicals for myself. It runs in easier than the others. I usually use the same one on myself as the kids, though blue Lizard was a little hard to rub in.

I'm very sensitive to avobenzone and my skin burns if I use it.

On our recent trip to Hawaii I packed Neutrogena baby (mineral lotion sunscreen), Babyganics spray lotion (combination), and Neutrogena Dry Touch Spray (chemical). I liked the Babyganics best overall because, unlike the purely mineral ones, it wasn't difficult to rub in or wash off. It uses minerals and also two chemical sunscreens; it doesn't contain avobenzone, which seems to be in every other chemical sunscreen and is irritating to my sensitive skin.

Think Baby for us too. We've used it on our LO for 3 years now and no burns. Last year I got the adult version for myself (Think Sport, I think). I used to use Neutrogena Drytouch and I do prefer that texture but I was pregnant last summer so I wanted something that had a better EWG rating.

I think it's better to use the chemical sunscreens than nothing at all, so I don't discount their use. I personally use a chemical sunscreen on myself otherwise I won't use it, it's not so much the white sheen that bothers me, it is how much scrubbing I have to do to get it off at the end of the day!

For my son, I really like Alba Botanicals. I think they're higher than 1 rating, but I still prefer that to the straight mineral ones.

I used Badger's for DD1's first summer; it was thick and a little hard to spread, but generally I liked it a lot and know it's safe.

2nd summer, she used a lot more sunscreen; I got Blue Lizard and loved it. Safe, easy to spread, and comes in bigger bottles. I'll be buying again this summer for both my girls.

Most safe ones are mineral based, which is that thick white paste sunscreens. I wasn't fond of them at first, but then I realized how much safer they are, and if its not rubbed in 100% oh well, I totally got over it.

After getting outside yesterday, I realized I already managed to get an early spring sunburn! And after looking into products for my LO, I finally am coming to realize the importance of a safer sunscreen ( my Coppertone days are over, I guess!). I've tried Honest Co. sunscreen before but found it super greasy and impossible to rub in.

So, what are your favorite safe sunscreens for you and/or your LO? (Please specify if you use it too!). I'm in the market for something that preferably has an EWG rating of 1 and isn't really greasy or thick/pasty/leaves a white sheen. Tall order?
