@avivoca: @cmomma17: Luckily my director fully backed me up! He basically laid it out flat that that's just how it was and she'd have to get over it. It's the law that I'm allowed to pump and he even asked my boss if he covered the requirements...non bathroom room, comfy chair, etc. (which he has since day 1) so I'm glad!!! So so glad!!

I got JUST enough for T's bottles. I'll have to see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully it's just a fluke. I'm suspecting we may be hitting the 3 month growth spurt early too since we just nursed for an hour. Lol

Another voice here to chime in on random lower supply days. I keep thinking it's related to my body gearing up for ovulation although no period in sight yet. I have seen a super gradual reduction in supply as I went from oversupply at <6 months to regulated supply keeping pace with baby who is eating solids.

@Danizaur: My supply dropped big time about a month ago. It stayed low for the whole week and by the end of the week, I was looking into renting a hospital grade pump, looking into formula, etc. I spent the weekend trying to nurse LO more than usual to bring my supply back up. By Monday, my supply came back, and then some! In my case, I think LO had a growth spurt and was eating more than usual when I was around, so like you, my morning pump output was really low. Anyway, just a positive story for you. I try not to stress as much now when I had a day with lower output. So far, it's always come back.

@Danizaur: this might sound weird, but eating avocado really helps my supply. Every time I have it, I get several extra ounces the following day -- I think it must be something about the good fats but I don't really know if there's a scientific explanation, haha. Could be worth a try to see if it helps you, as well. I had a low-supply day earlier this week, too, and I know it can be worrying but now I'm back on track...I'm sure you will be soon, too!

@Danizaur: I unfortunately do have experience with having to defend my right to pump at work. If you do have to do that - I'm here to support you! Hopefully it doesn't turn into a big fight. Hang in there and be strong!

@Danizaur: I hate that for you. Make sure you are armed with information, and I would take a few printouts of the laws that protect you to have just in case.

@avivoca: Yeah no joke! I got really worked up about it this morning. I'm supposed to handle the phone calls and customers and she does have to take over when I pump but it was lame of her to call me out. It's 15 minutes 3 times a day. :bummed:

Now I have to defend my pumping to my director. It's not a normal thing to do around here so I'm not sure if he's aware of the law that covers me. I didn't want to have to make a case about feeding my baby.

Like @cmomma17: said, one day or one session of decreased output doesn't mean your supply is plummeting. Make sure you drink tons of water, eat a good snack, and try to relax about it. An extra session while he's eating later (if you only feed one at a time) should make up the amount you need.

Boo to your coworker! That's a lame excuse to give for her not keeping up with her workload.

@Danizaur: just wanted to reassure you that 1 day or 1 session of decreased output does not mean your supply is plummeting! It's so hard, but try not to worry! In my year of pumping I had a handful of days/sessions like that! Definitely chug lot's of water, make sure you're eating well, and try to relax when you can. Also, extra pumping can make up for the deficit and encourage your boobs to keep producing!

@Danizaur: Yeah, usually when my morning session didn't produce as much as usual, I'd add in another session and that usually made up the difference! Good luck!

@Adira: I should be able to. Luckily I usually get a couple of ounces extra than what T needs so I'm hoping there's some elbow room in there.

@Pirouette: Probably not as much as I should be. It's been a stressful morning. I think I've had like 4 oz of water. :/

I hope it's just a fluke! It's not happened before but I haven't even been back to work for a month.

Are you drinking enough water? and eating enough? not drinking enough water is almost always the culprit for me! stress plays a role, but for me it's just that when i'm stressed i don't drink enough water :) i'd say chug some water, maybe have some oatmeal (that seems to help me too) and try to pump tonight after he goes to sleep to try to get a little extra.

But don't worry - i have had random mornings where my pump output is way lower than usual (i too pump most in my first session), but either i get more during the rest of the day than usual or i end up with a little less and bounce back fine the next day.

This would happen to me occasionally. Can you add in another pump session today to see if you can get some more out?

Ugh. I usually get at least 6oz from my morning pump...usually 7 or 7.5. This morning I got 4. This sucks. I rely on my morning pump to put me ahead to get my amount I need for the babysitter. T takes 5 oz bottles so I'm going to be scrimping by today to get enough. T is STTN so I've been letting my boobs adjust and the engorgement is almost gone...but I don't think that's the problem. My supply has been adjusting for over a week and I nurse T on both sides before I leave for work and still pull 7 oz from my first session.

Idk if it's because I'm stressed or what. One of my coworkers complained to our director when asked why she's behind in work that I'm away from my desk so much during the day (3 times pumping) and she can't stay caught up. That pissed me off but I don't think I'm overly stressed or anything. :bummed:
