That's the ultimate goal. Whether you can do it all at once or need a gradual transition depends on the kid....

My LO got furious about WCM. We've had to do a gradual transition for the 2 4oz bottles he takes at daycare, gradually increasing the WCM and decreasing the BM/formula (when my stash ran out).

He has taken water in a sippy cup with meals at daycare for a long time but is really, really attached to his bottles. So first we are getting him to transition to all WCM in a bottle and then daycare will work on phasing out bottles and phasing in sippy cups with WCM, which they only give during snack.

At home he absolutely refuses a sippy, gets furious when you offer, and just wants to breastfeed. I offer regularly but am not going to force the issue as long as he's having plenty of wet diapers with just bf.

We didn't have to do a gradual transition, we just cold turkey switched from BM to cow's milk in a cup. I'd just give it a try and see how it goes, you can always go back to a slow transition if she doesn't take to it. At 12 months, we nursed morning/night and they got WCM in a cup at meal times and water throughout the day.

@CatchAFallingStar: Yes, you may add BM to a tiny amount of WCM (or GM which is more easily digested) in a sippy. As time goes on, you can decrease the amount of BM and increase the cow or goat milk.
Good luck! :goodluck:

I breastfed and pumped with my first until about 27 months. With my second, I breastfeed but we supplement wth formula in a bottle when I’m away. Now that she’s 12 months, do we switch to supplementing with whole milk in a sippy cup?
