@Happygal: I love my FitBit! 10,000 is one of the standard settings as a goal. You can set steps, mileage, and stairs (or really elevation, because hills count too). 10,000 is moderately tough for me to hit, in that I have to make a concerted effort to not flop down on the couch. My job can be fairly stationary at times, so my averages without making an effort are more like 4 to 5,000.

When I lost 20 pounds (after I finally accepted that I would never have a good supply with BF'ing E), I did it by logging my foods in the Fitbit log* and pre-setting a deficit of 750 calories a day. It sounds like I must've eaten next to nothing, but with the Fitbit I was able to tailor my activity to what I ate. It would take into account how active I was and tell me how many calories I had "left" for the day. It was over the holidays, so you bet I pre-logged glasses of wine! If I wanted a treat, I was totally honest with how I logged it, and upped my activity to try and make up the deficit as much as possible. And as far as exercise, I hit at least 10,000 steps a day (no running!), 50 flights of stairs (a real chore, but we have one flight of stairs in our house), and 20 minutes of squats/Jillian-like exercises every day. I don't lose weight easily, but between Thanksgiving and my birthday at the end of January, I had lost 20 lb. So, definitely doing that again!

* I meant to add that you can link it to My Fitness Pal, which historically has a much better food database. Although, I hear that Fitbit overhauled their food database, so it may be better. The food database was probably my biggest complaint. If you tracked macronutrients, it would have been next to impossible with the old database. I haven't logged lately, so I'm not sure how it has improved, if at all.

@Happygal: I know you weren't asking me, but I LOVE my fitbit! Pre-pregnancy I aimed for 13,000...now I am lucky to get 6. Sad :(

The first trimester is killing me! I thought I was better, but the nausea came back with a vengeance last night and I couldn't eat dinner. Booo. For the most part DH is supportive, but since I am home full time I do all of the cooking, so he just eats whatever I make :) Except quinoa. Never quinoa. ;) He has had to pick up a lot of my slack since usually around dinner time just thinking about food has made me feel sick. Hoping this sickness ends soon!

@Espion: ooohhh, tell me more about your FitBit. Some family members have them and are always talking about them. 10,000 seems to be the standard goal--where does that come from? I'm curious!

@bushelandapeck: do you run races? I need something to motivate me to get out there and go. I've done a few, a 10K being the longest stretch, but think I like the shorter races best.

@Mrs tartan: those stroller fit classes look so fun! Thanks for reminding me about that. I think they may have something like that at my gym. Such a good idea.

@Mrs. Lion: the first trimester drags! How has is been going for you? I felt like 2nd trimester was never going to arrive, and was sad when I heard varying opinions on when it officially starts. Now time if flying by. Do you get support to eat healthy from your husband, or does he mainly follow your lead?

@namaste: do you think fall will be easier b/c of the weather, or is there a shift in your schedule? Our summer hasn't been too bad, although it's pretty humid out right now. We've moved into a new space and haven't taken our dog for as many walks as usual, so I'd like to try to get back into a routine of walking with her.

@Gigi2: glad you could connect with another horse person. My brain is still slow this morning, but it seems like we're very close in our due dates. I'm 18 weeks tomorrow (holy moly!)

How far along are you? 17 weeks 4 days
Baby #1!
Were you active before getting pregnant? Yes! Nearly daily exerciser (mostly to manage stress and keep happy endorphins!), running, boxing, spinning, some barre classes, bootcamps, etc. to keep in shape as I ride horses and do (did!) quite a bit of competing.
What are your specific goals? Keep up cardiovascular fitness so I can be strong for labor and feel as good as possible afterward, and so that I can be back in the saddle as soon as baby/doctor allow :)
What types of exercise do you enjoy? Horse riding! And generally anything that gets up a sweat. Right now, I'm enjoying spin class a lot as I can vary what I do based on the day but still feel the energy of the rest of the class.
Anything else? So great to see lots of us at various stages exercising and supporting each other! Thank you @mrssunshine: for keeping this going.

@mrstartan: hooray! another horse person! do you miss it? plans to ride again post baby? wishing you well in your last trimester!!

How far along are you? 20w3d
Baby# 1
Were you active before getting pregnant? Yes! Mostly yoga and running but prior to that, a lot of group fitness, Zumba/Les Mills programs.
What are your specific goals? Just to continue to be as active as possible and make sure I stay healthy.
What types of exercise do you enjoy? I really enjoy yoga and it's helped me shape my lifestyle so much!
Anything else? Love these threads! Fall should be so much easier to stay active, especially now that I'm in the second trimester.

@Happygal: I'm so glad you're enjoying prenatal yoga!

How far along are you? 12 weeks! Cant wait for the second trimester!!
Baby# 2
Were you active before getting pregnant?yes, i was doing jillian michaels dvds 3-5 days a week, walking an hour a day, and occasionally doing kickboxing, yoga, the elliptical or running at the gym.

What are your specific goals? to keep the weight gain in a healthy range (big fail so far....i was eating so healthy before that i think body went into shock at all the junk i have omg.had.to.eat. in the first trimester.) Hoping to get back to clean eating and lots of veggies plus adding back exercise after the next week or two.

What types of exercise do you enjoy? My faves are long walks and yoga, but running is okay when i am training for something(i like having a goal) and i like going to kickboxing and yoga classes with friends.

Anything else? Looking forward to supporting each other...being healthy during pregnancy is so hard!

How far along are you?...33 weeks and 4 days
Baby#...1
Were you active before getting pregnant?...Yes, super keen horse rider, have two dogs to walk but no specific classes or workouts
What are your specific goals?...to keep weight gain below 30lbs and stay fit enough to be able to have the stamina for labour
What types of exercise do you enjoy?...I hate to exercise unless its not like exercise-horse riding, dog walking and swimming is all I like to do, although horse riding is out at the moment.
Anything else?...I was 119lbs before baby, sitting at 143 at mo so trying to keep to less than 7lbs in the next 6 weeks! Also I've signed up to a buggy fit class in winter to exercise with the baby which I'm looking forward to :)

How far along are you? 32w3d! Time is flying by!

Baby#: 2, pregnancy #3

Were you active before getting pregnant? Yes. I tried to stay as active as possible. Chasing around a toddler helps too ;)

What are your specific goals? To keep the weight gain to 25-30lbs and staying active right up until the end. I managed to work out/walk right up until delivery day with DS and I think it definitely helped with the recovery and getting back to PP weight.

What types of exercise do you enjoy? Hiking, running, Pilates, yoga. Pretty much anything that gets me sweating. :)

Anything else?

@Mrs. Sunshine: thank you for kicking us off for the fall season. I can't believe it!

How far along are you? 17 weeks today. Wow! First trimester felt like it went on forrreeeevvvver, and now time if flying by.

Baby#: 1! So happy.

Were you active before getting pregnant? Not really. But not a total couch potato either.

What are your specific goals? To move around as much as possible and stay healthy.

What types of exercise do you enjoy? I'm a "let's take it easy" kind of gal, so yoga, walking, things like that.

Anything else?

Yes! I've been going to prenatal yoga and love it. Everyone shares what they're going through beforehand. The stretches feel incredible. The last teacher was so awesome and she's a doula, so I asked her if she would work with me. She has another client around my due date, so I'm really hoping it will work out!

How far along are you? 3 weeks, 5 days
Baby #2
I was fairly active before getting pregnant this time. I run about 3 times a week, I alternate yoga or barre about 5 days a week & usually try to add it in a HI IT workout once a week for extra cardio
My specific goals are do my best to continue eating clean/paleo (i do a combo) & to do my best to keep with my previous routine.
My favorite exercises are running & yoga. With the fatigue & muscle aches I enjoy the yoga more than the running lately.

Can't wait to hear from the rest of you! !
