@ladybee: yes! And like @LBee said, Espion was a urologist ( a huge help!!!) explained everything to me. It's on my Wall. I can retrieve our conversations if you'd like....
My son had the surgery around 9 months. He had a hydrocele hernia as well as a undescended testical.
He had the surgery to fix both at the same time. It was definitely a challenging day more for us then little man. After the surgery he was pretty out of it from the anesthesia & pain medicine. He slept a lot & nursed more the day of & following day. Then he was back to his active self a day or two after the surgery!
Let me know what questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them! I know it's super stressful.

@ladybee: As long as they will administer pain mess if needed and try to keep him quiet he should be ok Wed. The hard thing about having him in daycare is making sure he doesn't get a cold or anything before the surgery.

@LBee: @Raindrop: @T.H.O.U.: thank you. Since this is not umbilical cord, our urologist said it will not go away on its own. 😞

@skipra: Thanks! We are trying to figure out if he'll be able to go to daycare on Wednesday or not. We have a back up plan but aren't sure what to expect!

@ladybee: DS had an iguinal Hermia repair in March. He was 2.5. He also had a gi scope at the same time and his recovery was unbelievable. He did throw up a couple times after waking up and we went home and he took a nap. Then all bets were off. He was trying to run and jump on the beds that afternoon. The hardest thing was keeping him quiet for several days and not letting him go on riding toys. He still has a scar but it is not too bad. Oh and they prescribed percocet but he was fine with tylenol and ibuprofen. He only complained about hurting once and the medicine took the pain away fast.

Good luck. It will be much harder on you than your LO!

@ladybee: that post was mine. My daughter is now 4 and it's almost gone away so we aren't planning surgery. A little girl in her class did have the surgery though and as far as I know it was easy.

Here is a link about baby umbilical hernia.

These are the only two topics I found with Espion and herina.
http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/what-is-growing-on-my-sons-belly-button

Here is Espion with something involving the word Hydrocele
http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/dh-has-varicocele

Espion was an urologist. I'm sad she's gone too. :(

I think Espion (who is no longer on here  ) did a good explaination for someone. I would try searching her name with hydrocele. I'm on my phone or I would help.
