Ladies, thanks for the sympathy and the advice. I found the heating pad very helpful and not something I had thought of. I think I’m through the worst - have been able to cut back on the number and frequency of ibuprofen. I just had a rough 24 hours where I was wondering if I’d live through the pain. But I did because I’m tougher than a miscarriage. ;)

I’m so sorry. For me, I had an awful maybe 6-8 hour stretch where nothing helped. I did Tylenol and a heat pad- put on my favorite/most comforting show and basically rocked in the fetal position. Moaning to get through it. I’m so so sorry you’re going through this. It’s truly awful.

@MrsJBeeG: I'm so so sorry you are still dealing with the physical aspect of this. Have you had another ultrasound to rule out retained tissue?

Heat packs for sure. I found massaging my cramping stomach with oil really helped distract me too. I'm so sorry. :(

Just wanted to say I'm sorry your miscarriage is taking so long to complete. A warmed bag of rice is great to sleep with because it stays warm for a long time but doesn't heat back up

I agree with the heating pad or a hot water bottle or a rice bag on your abdomen. Are you taking the max (800mg) of ibuprofen?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this :(.

So sorry to hear this. Similar to what others have said, during my mc, a heating pad helped a lot even when the prescription the doctor gave me wasn't helping. DH bought mine at Rite Aid (I think) and it was a life saver. The narcotics just made me sleepy and didn't take away the pain, but the heating pad helped a lot. Just be careful not to wear pants with metal grommets because they heat up and can burn your skin if you have the heating pad over your pants. Hugs!

I'm so sorry you are going through that. Have you tried a heating pad on your abdomen? I have one that straps around the midsection. I think it is intended for back pain but it works great when I've had cramps in the past (post-D&C and for my natural loss as well). When I had my recent D&C, they actually sent me home with a ton of disposable heating pads.

I'm really sorry that you are experiencing your second loss. Have you tried a hot bath? That saved me. So comforting and the hot water provided some pain relief. Also its just really relaxing during a time of grief and sadness.

Of course keep regular with the pain meds, stay on top of the pain as they say. Taking something extra strength every 4 hours.

I’m sorry Mama, that sounds miserable and miscarriage is such a shitty thing to go through.

Are you able to hop in a hot bath or shower to help ease the pain? Or contact your OB to ask for something to help speed the process up?

Ladies - I could use some shared experiences today. Sadly I’m going through my second miscarriage. It took almost 5 weeks from when the development stopped to naturally miscarry - I assume it’s worse as I was at close to 13 weeks. This one is really painful - like some times the cramps are so bad that I want to curl in a ball and cry and beg for it to end. I’ve tried Motrin, Tylenol and lots of fluids. Any other remedies anyone has used - besides prescribed drugs (I have strong reactions to them and avoid them h less it’s unavoidable). And any thoughts on how long it could last? I was doing better today but cramps have been ramping up again.
