Now? Having three young children has been tough. Someone is always crying! Sometimes it's me ;) I'm sure once we hit a year old with our youngest, we'll be able to breathe again.

The first year with DD felt like survival mode, especially with the breastfeeding. DD wouldn't take a bottle for awhile so I was always rushing home in between any kind of errand to nurse her every 2-3 hours. Then I went back to work and was learning how to juggle and find a balance between new motherhood and life outside the home.

I never really felt like I was in survival mode once #2 came along. He just naturally fell into our existing routine and even though I was still sleep deprived and was nursing again I had a much better handle on things because I had done it once before, knew what I wanted to do differently or keep the same, and just generally knew what to expect. So it was really just with the first kid and being thrown for a loop with this new world of parenthood compared to my non-kid life.

When I went back to work when J was 7 weeks old. The nursing, pumping, not sleeping, etc. was really rough, plus my job was pretty stressful, meetings first thing in the morning when I got in at 8am.
I did whatever I had to to get through it.

I feel like sleep has everything to do with it... DD is 5 mo and I still feel like we're in survival mode somewhat b/c she doesn't STTN, and doesn't self soothe. Plus her wake-time is only 2 hours we still aren't doing too much with her on weekends.

DD is 14 months and I feel parenting wise, we were only in survival mode for the first few weeks. I do feel like anything in life outside of DD, typical household duties and work is in survival mode though. Like, someone rear ended me and dealing with the phone calls and insurance repairs feels like it's throwing me off and I can't seem to find the time to deal with it.

LO is only 2 years and 3 months, but i would say from 1-2 was survival mode for us between constantly having to watch every move he made to make sure he didn't hurt himself or damage something, all the sleep disturbances and ridiculously early wakeups, and me having pregnancy exhaustion for 3 months, it was extremely tiring. i feel like we have started turning a corner and things are so much easier. that is, until baby #2 arrives in a few months. god why am i doing this again.

I think we were in survival mode the most when our kids were younger - pretty much until they hit 2. We didn't have family nearby, plus we both worked a lot. In retrospect, it probably wasn't the smartest idea to start Hellobee a month or so before our second daughter was born!

Now the kids are older, and it's definitely feeling a lot easier! There are speedbumps here and there, but at least the car isn't on fire and all the tires blown out.

When were you in survival mode the most?
