I didn't have any help after the first week home with my 2. We had some rough moments but, all in all, it wasn't horrible.

I made sure that I had things ready for DS to do before I had to nurse DD. I'd sit to nurse her by his books so that he could sit next to me and read with me even though I was nursing. Puzzles were really good for me to be able to still "play with him" while nursing.

We did super easy meals or I'd cook something on big on the weekend (while DH was home) to last us through the week for the really rough nights.

I also had a fairly easy recovery so we were able to get out of the house pretty quickly. I think DD was 3 weeks old the first time we went back to DS' toddler storytime. It was super easy because she was still a sleepy newborn so I'd make sure to nurse her before we left the house and she'd sleep next to me in her infant carseat with a blanket over the top.

Good luck! I was TERRIFIED but...we survived :)

hugs! I second @Mrs. Yoyo: ! :)

though, I do some of those things and I don't have two under two, so I think you're more than justified. lol.

Um, I've been trying to think of a good tip, but honestly I don't remember, (so that's probably telling). I think it was just survival mode. My house was messy, we ate freezer meals, made no plans.

@Mrs. Yoyo: hahah love this and I so agree.

Let a lot of things go until you get to a place where it's more manageable. Hopefully in six weeks or less. I'll bet runningelly has some good suggestions for this too.

Embrace your inner bad mommy. Think: lots of screentime, dirty house, whatever it takes. Just accept that you'll be in survival mode and let the small things gooooo.

I think trying to not worry about lots of the small things such as a messy house will help you get through. Lots of ice packs and pain meds will help as well. Good luck!

@Mrs. M: DS was 17.5 months old when she was born. It really has been so much easier than I thought...I had tons of anxiety surrounding having two kids with no help. Literally, we have added a new life to our family and it's just like she has always been here!

Following!

@Matador84: This gives me hope! My husband is going to try and take a week off (hopefully!) after baby #2 is born, but after that I won't have any help. How old was your DS when your baby was born?

I was freaking out at first but it has been WAY easier than I thought. I haven't had any help, I have just had tons of toys to keep DS busy. He has loved helping. We get out of the house at least once a day before nap time to pass the time. I nap when he goes Dow. For a nap. Good luck! You can do it!

If you have two under two (or a toddler in general), how did you manage those first few weeks when you were exhausted and sore? DH only has off through Monday and I'm really nervous and wondering how I will manage two little ones these first few weeks. I will have a little help from my mom but not every day.

If you had two under two share your best tips!
